As I said in my previous post, I am going to talk about my take on Underswap and how I would make the AU. I'll do that and talk about more specific stuff while also talking about each character specifically.

This AU has a lot changed compared to the original version, the whole thing with the war is the same but what starts to change is when I tried to incorporate the character changes that I made for the AU. For example, humans actually lived in the Underground so does that mean certain monsters were in the surface and fell down? Also since Goner Kid swapped with Gaster, how do I make that whole idea work? After a while of thinking, I decided on a story that I believe works very well with the AU.
The story of the war remains exactly the same as humans and monsters still used to ruled over Earth until a war broke out and it led to the Humans winning and trapping them Underground. However unlike in the original, not every monster got trapped underground as some monsters were not in the general crowd of those that were put behind that barrier, one of which was Asriel. In this Alternate Universe, instead of a massive gap between the monsters getting trapped Underground and Chara falling, there was no gap and those events happened not too long apart. Asriel got stuck in the Underground because he got lost trying to find his parents while Chara saw the opportunity for her to get away from humanity, the group that she hated with all of her being and secretly joined the monsters Underground. Once the entire Underground was trapped with a barrier, Asgore and Toriel tried to find their son but to no avail thinking that something bad happened to him. However they then saw Chara alone and decided to adopt her while they hope that Asriel was in the surface living his best life, but in reality he wasn't as he was afraid the whole time and had to hide from the humans from the village while they tried to hunt for any remaining monsters left behind. This even was labelled as The Great Hunt led by someone who acted so weird at that time yet his purple eyes and weird smile is what made him so memorable, he suggested that they should hunt for more humans just in case that they didn't get them all and because of that, some of the most cruel humans out there searched far and wide through every village in every corner of the Region until they found every single Monster. In this universe, Humans and Monsters were more technologically advanced in the past although they aren't as advanced as today back then (however, think about how advanced they would be in 2025) and because of that, it didn't take them that long to find every monster. It was so bad that they held these trials known as the Ebbot Monster Trials where any human that was accused of either aiding a monster or was one in disguise would either be sent to the Underground or be executed. Asriel was eventually found only being in the surface for 3 months and was chased away until he went to the Underground and when he fell, he was surprised to find what has happened to Monster Society while he was gone. Once down there, he reunited with his family and became very close friends with Chara while solidifying the fact that she was a part of the family. They lived happily ever after for years to come until one day, Asriel got infected with a disease that came from accidentally getting too close to a rabid Temmie and in his last moments, requested Chara to protect his parents and to lead the Underground to a bright future. But Chara didn't listen to his final wishes, instead she absorbed his soul and went to the surface to try and kill the entire village and put a stop to their evil ways as well as put a stop to the Ebbot Monster Trials. However they proved to be too strong and despite the odds, she just wouldn't back down until she along with so many humans died. After the fight, the humans grabbed the lifeless body of Chara and threw it back Underground. Toriel and Asgore witnessed the horrifying dead body of their child and because of that, Asgore declared war on humanity but Toriel thinks that despite everything, he's going too far. Instead of Toriel leaving however, Asgore leaves so that he can get ready to kill all of the humans without anyone stopping him while Toriel remains the Queen and decides to enforce a new policy of everyone welcoming humans with kindness so that they can have a change of heart and realize their wrongdoings.
Now that we got the general story down, let's go over every character and their specific character information starting off with the new changes that I have made for the characters:
Monster Kid (MK)- Monster Kid or MK is our protagonist in this story and makes him the second monster to fall into the Underground. MK is one of the monsters that stayed and lived in the Underground, he was born and lived like a human for years until one day, even in modern age, humans are still very strict when it comes to monsters and found MK to which they chased him away from the village until he fell down from a long fall into a patch of flowers that seemingly made him feel different. He is a very rambunctious and reckless kid that always looks up to any inspiring idol that he can during the moment, he can also be a bit bratty and judgemental when he sees something that he thinks is lame however he never means any harm. While MK can be a bit rude, he always tries to be the bestest friend he can be and this is shown by being a bit gullible when it comes to requests and he won't ever back down from a challenge if he has the opportunity to do so. This does mean however that he can easily get manipulated and this can lead him to do some... actions that can't be reversed. Although he uses the nickname MK and everyone calls him that, no one knows what his real name is.
In this AU, Determination works different as the way he got it was from being in the surface and being a little related to humans which grants him the powers of determination. He can't reset as an unknown force is making him reset but instead, he has the ability to endure attacks really well and has a high amount of HP compared to a regular monster.
Frisk- Frisk is a human that's living in Snowdin and is loved by the whole community. We don't know much about her history except that her parents are both human and that it's unknown what happened to them, however there is an orphanage located in Snowdin to which that's where Frisk lives. Despite being a human, she is beloved because of her extreme kindness and especially since she gets along with the kids very well. She doesn't really talk too much as she prefers to be silent and she seems to not be really effective when it comes to communication however she always is the bravest and the one to take action when it's needed, especially when it can make others happy. It's also clear that she looks up to Papyrus and wants to join the Royal Guard alongside him which is why there are times where she would go to Waterfall alone just to spend time with her hero. Out of every person that MK has been with, he would say that Frisk is the closest person, their bond is so close that she even talks more often to him compared to any other person although it's mostly through whispers.
Alphys- Alphys is a failed scientist that thinks of herself as a failure and is trying to do better after that horrifying accident. In this universe, Sans and Alphys are both involved towards the Determination experiments and unfortunately, because of how monsters deal with Determination, all of them turned into mutilated amalgamations with no signs of turning back. When Toriel found out about what happened, she fired Alphys while Sans wasn't allowed to work in the lab for a few months and that really changed Alphys. She never could forget the tragedy that she has caused towards other monsters and she always blamed herself for that day, however she still moved on and lived her life all because of meeting Undyne one day. Undyne just moved out of her parents house from Waterfall and being a young adult, she decided to move into a dorm and she just so happened to meet Alphys and they quickly became friends. However after she learned about what happened, she helped her realize that she needs to move on with her life regardless and that's when they learned their close feelings for one another and started dating. Alphys describes herself as a pathetic person however she is still a very introverted person that's a huge fangirl of anime and she along with Undyne loves listening to Napstablook's songs in their radio. While she doesn't have a job, she helps Undyne on her own and that helps them get paid as well as sell some products that she made on her own to get some extra money. She is also very close with Sans as they still talk despite what happened and Papyrus checks in on her every now and then.
Undyne- As an up and coming member of The Royal Guard, Undyne has been training and is doing the best she can to join one day. Undyne is a very strong person, she has no problem doing physical tasks and she is trying very hard to prove herself to Papyrus but she seems to not agree with his way of thinking and she doesn't want to show kindness towards the enemy so she takes her job as apprentice very seriously. When she first met Alphys, they got very close until they started dating and they live with each other in a dorm. She also is the one who wants to do the heavy jobs to pay for themselves, it just shows how much they care for each other. She also helped Alphys be more open with others. The reason why she despises humans so much is because of everything she has learned about humans in the surface based on where she lives. She and Alphys currently live in Snowdin and they have heard so much about how humans have tormented not only monsters but also human who are supporting monsters which is why she is so against welcoming them into the Underground, even going so far as to suspect a monster that came from the Surface.
Papyrus- The Head of The Royal Guard and the one who was entrusted because of his kindness, Papyrus is a role model for everyone in the Underground. After the events of Toriel's children dying and Asgore leaving, Sans and Papyrus are some of the first people to comfort her to which she appreciated. After some consideration, she decided to created The Royal Guard and appoint Papyrus as the Head. Papyrus is a very friendly and a very welcoming person to be around, he always puts others before himself and would do anything to cheer a person up. He and Sans do live in Snowdin and before they got their jobs, they were very active in the community until they got their jobs, they had to move. They still do live in Snowdin but go their way less often as Papyrus has a base in Waterfall and Sans' lab works as a house for him to stay in. He loves to cook spaghetti but for some reason is seen to eat oatmeal with dinosaur eggs way more, so there are times where he will cook that as well. Since in this AU, he is older than Undyne (although both are adults), he is a chef and teaches Undyne how to cook so she can use that knowledge in the future.
Sans- As the current Royal Scientist, Sans has a lot of responsibility yet despite having so much, he seems to not be too bothered with it and no one really knows why. Sans is a very mysterious person as no one even knows his origins and Papyrus never mentions it even when asked, all that's known is that he lives in Snowdin and that he is surprisingly smarter than he looks and acts. Eventually, he got the role of Royal Scientist because along with him being very smart, he seems to have a special connection with Toriel, sometimes he would even use his own break days to be with her. He was also present during the incident to which made Alphys lose her job, he and Alphys weren't able to do anything about the patients and it was so bad that they even closed down that part of the lab but unlike in the original universe, Toriel demanded that all patients go back to their families so the True Lab is more safe and isolated which is why Sans sometimes just relaxes in there. And the reason why Sans didn't get fired was because Alphys was the one who was responsible for doing the irreversable actions and Toriel trusted and felt like someone needed to lead the future of the scientific breakthrough that the Underground needed so she just told Sans to stop working for a while which he was completely fine with. Because of what happened, he would talk to Alphys on the phone sometimes, times where he would even go to her in person just to see if she's doing ok, would chat with her and would even watch or play whatever she wanted. Sans stays in the lab most of the time and while it may seem like he's lazy, he's actually very busy. He is also very close with Napstablook, despite Napstablook himself feeling like he doesn't deserve it. He would always try to cheer him up and would encourage him to perform his music throughout the world but he is also respectful of what Napstablook wants as he doesn't even wanna do this in the first place so he would also comfort his introvert personality.
Temmie/Chara- Chara is the first human to have been in the Underground and is a part of the history of the Underground. After the war ended, Chara wanted to get away from humanity so she hid among the crowd of the monsters and got sealed Underground. While the Dreemurs were looking for their child, they found a human one all alone and after her telling about how humanity is like, they decided to adopt the human. For the months that she has lived with them initially, she felt like there was an actual family to support her and wanted to live with them forever. However things got better when Asriel fell down into the Underground, not only did the family reunite but Chara had a brother and best friend to be with and throughout the few years that they were all together, it was the happiest moment of their lives. However one day, Asriel got infected with a rabid Temmie and despite his own wishes, Chara didn't listen and absorbed the soul of the dying monster and went to the surface to fight the humans but ultimately lost and the other humans threw her dead body Underground to which her parents witnessed the horrifying sight. After what happened, Chara got a burial in New Home and Asriel's dust was scattered with the flowers in the beginning of the game from Asgore. However one day, Alphys went to Toriel with the hope that she could save her child to which she agreed and along with other test subjects, she and Sans started to experiment with them by injecting DT onto their bodies. While the others melted and turned to Amalgamations, that didn't happen to Chara and as her lifeless body ran away, something in her memories must've triggered and became a central focus because, her body suddenly transformed into a Temmie and then she regained consciousness. When she woke up, she has no memories of who she used to be and eventually named herself Temmie as well as adapt a silly personality. However something inside of her made her selfish, evil and manipulative, like that feeling was good although it could be that her memories were confusing her too much. But regardless, she started of by living with Toriel but got bored of it and same with Asgore. After that, before she could do something towards the other monsters, she discovered a powerful feeling which allowed her to reset which is called Determination. And that power allowed her to play and control other monsters for such a long time but eventually, she lost that power because a certain kid fell Underground and an old friend of hers is protecting him from such dangers. Chara isn't necessarily evil but she can come of as such because of her not having enough trust on others and because of her quick she can be to jump to conclusions and act. She also is a massive fan of chocolate
Asriel- The prince of the Underground, Asriel is a very respected and a beloved part of the entire underground. Asriel accidentally got lost after the war and is one of the only monsters who did not get trapped Underground initially. During his time in the surface, he was in there for 3 months and while he was hiding the whole time, he got very friendly with a lot of the humans in there and realized that not everyone is as bad as they seems and that there are people who are bad but they're not the same as those who are good. Eventually however, he got caught and fell into The Underground to which he got reunited with his family and met his new sibling, Chara. Despite what Chara believes in, Asriel still believes in the good of others mainly because of her ironically. Even before he died, he wants Chara to live her life to the fullest and to make the Underground the best place that it could be. When his dust got scattered across the flowers, because of how his and Chara's soul got fused, a bit of DT was in his body and would allow him to come back in spirit to the next person that would fall onto that flowers, but also it seems to be that Asriel's essence would only react to a Monster as two monsters can easily connect with one another and it just so happened to be MK that fell down next. If he were alive, he would be really close friends with MK as he loved seeing what he would do next during his own adventures. Asriel loves to narrate all of the events that are currently happening but also can't hold back but complement everyone he sees, he also tries to mimick how MK speaks during it because of his childish nature and how fun it is to do that. And only when you commit Genocide would that fun loving kid stop seeing things so brightly and would try to put a stop to the person he wants to call friend. He also is the reason why MK is able to reset although he doesn't remember much when there is a reset.
Goner Kid- Being a very special yet mysterious person, so many things about Goner Kid is unknown. Goner Kid was just a regular kid a long time ago but all of that changed when one day, he volunteered to a special experiment. The one who conducted the experiment was a scientist that isn't a Royal Scientist but still had enough authority to conduct experiments and that person is Gaster. While Alphys and Sans were dealing with their own problems during the Incident, Gaster and Goner Kid were busy doing their own thing and the experiment was that Gaster would try to send the test subject, that being Goner Kid, into different timelines and would see how that would play out. Unfortunately, the experiment was a failure because Goner Kid felt so much pain during the whole thing and then got shattered across time and space. When everyone found out about what he did and what happened to the test subject, he got fired immediately and went to hiding however what's weird is that they don't seem to remember the victim of the experiment. When Goner Kid woke up, everything about him changed and it seemed like it was irreversable. His body became grayed out losing all color permanently, his own speech became incomprehensible to the point that understanding his words would require way more than understanding normal speech and no one can see him anywhere unless they enter a secret room in Waterfall which that in itself can't normally be found. His own presence is felt everywhere and unless someone finds something, he is stuck like that lost forever.
Gaster- As the one who caused such a horrifying incident, Gaster himself seems very mysterious and uncaring about what has happened as a consequence of his actions. Gaster is a very mysterious person, his origins are completely unknown and while proven to be a very intellectual person, his methods, motives and everything about how he is able to do everything he has done is a complete mystery. No one really liked him even before the incident as people found him very creepy and mysterious while Alphys and especially Sans don't trust him very much. All of that changed however when he made an experiment where he wanted to send a test subject into different timelines and while there was a primary focus on all of the victims during the Determination incidents, his experiment was the second major focus as after that incident, everyone learned how disturbing he truly is. It's revealed that Gaster has experimented on multiple individuals before and that he's collecting data to find something interesting to which the timeline experiment is the first time he found something very noteworthy. After that, everyone didn't hesitate to fire him to which he didn't seem to mind and after that, no one saw him again. Gaster is a very ominous person, while not required to see him, whenever someone sees a hint to him even if it's small, there's always fear associated with it and it gets worse when it feels like they are being stalked by him. Instead of Gaster Followers located in Snowdin, they are known as Gaster victims and they are people who loathe him and are from a result of horrifying experiments done to them, when speaking to them, all they will talk about is what they know about Gaster and why everyone needs to avoid him at all costs. However if someone were to find him, then he would be located in Waterfall where he would turn his back against you and talk about how dull the world is. And after listening to his command, he would disappear forever never to be seen again, weirdly though, it's impossible to tell anyone about what you just witnessed if it happens.
Napstablook- Napstablook is the most popular person in the entire Underground and it's all because of his own music career that he didn't want entirely. He started of as just a quiet and shy ghost who would just mostly stay at home all day and just lies down sadly. However there's someone in his life that he was genuinely happy with and that person is Mettaton as he would always try to cheer him up and would do so many fun things together, even the slow and boring stuff that Napstablook wanted. However one day, when Sans showed up because he got invited by Mettaton, Sans talked about how much he liked Napstablook's music and jokingly said that he can make it big if he were to share and perform his music in front of everyone in the Underground to which despite what Napstablook personally feels, Mettaton insists that he should do it and that he should get help from Sans to do it. At first he really doesn't want to do it but after a lot of peer pressure from his cousin, Napstablook eventually agrees and he left to pursue his career and live with Sans while doing so. Napstablook is a very anxious and introverted person however he tends to really like being with Sans as he's the only one who accepts his very simple and quiet activities as well as being a generally nice guy to him, he even helped convince Mettaton that Napstablook not getting a body like what he wants is a good thing to which he eventually agreed. He focuses on his arms instead of his legs as he's a ghost so he doesn't use his legs and with more focus on his arms with Sans' enhancements, he is able to perform a lot better. Napstablook still acts very shy when he is live but he is forcing himself to do a lot more that's out of his comfort zone as instead of shows, he instead plays and creates his songs live, either collabs or makes a song as a paid promotion and even forces himself to sing to which he doesn't like all of these but if it's to please his cousin then he'll continue to force himself.
Mettaton- Mettaton is an up and coming star that inspires to perform live and to be the Number 1 star however in this universe, he can't be able to live that dream. Mettaton has a lot of ambition in his life as he wants to perform live in front of an audience and create many shows as well as own a body but there's a problem, he doesn't have any talent of his own. As much as he sounds very confident and has planned a lot for his future, he can't actually do anything that he needs to be a star and as much as it pains for him to accept that he can't actually be able to accomplish his own dream, he can do the next thing and try to make a star in his own image. While he was perfectly fine with who Napstablook was truly at first, all of that changed when he first meet Sans online and then because of his own human fanclub to which he ran even during the present day, he eventually met Sans and seeing firsthand who Sans is and what can he do, he decides to invite him over to his house and after talking for a while, they learn about the Underground's Cable System which is currently being worked on by Sans alone where there would be the ability to broadcast content through TV and Mettaton got really excited over this but knowing his own skills, he instead insists that Napstablook should go and after some pressure, he eventually left to pursue his own music career. While Mettaton has good intentions, he still wanted Napstablook to be the star that he always wanted to be so he kept telling him what to do and how he should do it, while he did allow him to not get a robotic body, the other times he kept on insisting that he did it. Eventually however, he got upset at Napstablook and his success because of how he's very popular despite basically being the complete opposite of what he thinks a star should be and got really jealous at him and started to hate that he even got so popular in the first place. As a result, he started to get random trash from the dumpster and try to make a body out of that but fails terribly as it keeps falling apart. Despite that, he doesn't give up and even goes to the Ruins to try and perform a show in there with that "body" to which nobody watches. Hopefully he'll be able to let go of his obsession soon.

(Ok this is taking way too long and i've already talked about every important changes with the main characters so i'll just make the rest of them quick)
Asgore- Being the former king of the Underground, Asgore holds a lot of guilt inside of him. After the death of his children, he isolated himself from the Ruins and no one has heard or seen him ever since. The only one that has was Alphys who hears a voice behind the door sometimes and there are times that they do talk to each other but she doesn't even know that it's the former king. He is very kind towards everyone that is at the Ruins and he loves to make the Ruins a big garden as well as drink lots of tea however when it comes to humans, it pains him to do so but if he were to meet a human, he will kill them eventually.
Toriel- As the queen of the Underground, Toriel takes so much responsibility towards the entire Underground. After Asgore left, she created a new policy where the entire Underground becomes welcoming towards humans as she believes that kindness is the best approach towards them and wants them to be treated as friends. She also created The Royal Guard to serve the people and help them with their everyday needs. Toriel is someone that's very active with the community as she is more than willing to be in a ton of events as well as talk about her life. She also is close with Papyrus because of how kind he is and Sans because he finds him very charming to be around.
Flowey- In a hidden village in Waterfall, these species known as Floweys and the only real difference compared to the original Underswap is that these guys don't have Temmie's personalities so I can talk about the different Floweys real quick. Many Floweys act friendly and do want to be your best friend however there's one special Flowey named John (basically this AU's Bob) who acts evil like how original Flowey is like and isn't even hiding it. There's also a shopkeeper Flowey that sells Friendliness Pellets that heal a good amount and instead of wanting to go to college, he wants to get enough money to go to school (this is a reference to how Asriel is Flowey in the canon universe and Asriel is a child).
Muffet- Muffet acts as greedy as ever and owns a store that barely anyone visits because of how expensive everything is and how poor quality her products are. When it comes to Alphys, she only goes to her place to buy products for Undyne to cook meals with but she is very hesitant to go in there.
Grillbys- Grillbys owns a very popular and very respected restaurant in Hotland, he is a very silent person as he barely speaks but he is very professional and he is very efficient in his job. Every monster in Hotland has been there at least once and in the normal route, there are many monsters in his restaurant. The only reason why he's getting in your way is because he is hired by an unknown source, he can't be defeated by normal means however can be defeated if his flames are extinguished. Sans is a very regular visitor and always takes either Papyrus or Napstablook, sometimes both to eat out in his restaurant. He can only be fought during the Genocide Route as any other route triggers a sequence where he blocks your path until you get enough money to pay for Sans' tab and in his Genocide fight, instead of changing your soul, he focuses on Orange attacks.
Riverperson- The only reason why i'm mentioning the Riverperson is because there's a very big dilemma with this character and there are a lot of problems when writing this character. For those who don't know, the original Underswap features Gaster and Riverperson swapping but in this take, I swapped Gaster with Goner Kid so now I wonder what do I do with this character. This is the only time where a character doesn't follow the Underswap concept as there's no new swap involving this character and I can't just transfer an original swap role here because essentially the Riverperson has no one to swap with. I might actually do nothing with this character because from what I know, Goner Kid has nothing that changed in Underswap so i'm just going to keep the Riverperson the exact same from Undertale.
Humans- While their main equipment remains the same like how Justice is associated with cowboy stuff, Perseverance has glasses and a book, Kindness has cooking stuff and so on, their trait swaps. Like how Justice, Integrity and Perseverance swaps together and so on with the other three. I will say that I have no idea whether to keep them alive or not because it doesn't make sense to make them dead despite the story needing them dead as everyone is supposed to treat humans with kindness and they do treat them with such as Frisk is living in Snowdin but at the same time, I have an idea where Asgore kills them before they even leave the Ruins. So for this, i'll think about this before confirming anything.
And with that, that's all I have to say with the characters. Yes there's way more characters to talk about but basically all of them remain exactly the same from the original Underswap so i'll just expect everyone reading this post to know how the original take of Underswap is like and just end it there.
