Advice to New Systems
If you experience any changes in body control (switching, possession, etc.), then establish some form of consistent, asynchronous external communication with your system. External communication has a major benefit: you can still talk to each other across switches (asynchronously) even if the inside of your mind is a mess.
You might set up a journal, whiteboard, calendar, a "single user, multi-account" app like Mytter or Antar, sticky notes, etc. Anything goes as long as your system knows to check it occasionally (or at the least, in an emergency).
We recommend choosing an analog method for your fallback communication method if possible, as a power outage could take out a lot of digital methods. A spur-of-the-moment piece of paper left on a table is better than nothing, but it's less likely to work than a pocket notebook or bulletin board that every system member knows to use for communication if needed. You can always add an app or program once everyone knows where to go for your analog fallback.
Discuss how you want to treat each other. Keep it loose and informal for now- don't make any absolute Laws just yet. Think of it more like the quick agreements that roommates make with each other for practical reasons: "I'll do the dishes if you do the laundry".
A few classics: "try not to die, don't kill anyone else, don't get any tattoos as an impulse decision, and don't throw out things that don't belong to you."
Don't force agreements on anyone. If someone disagrees, then stop and discuss their concerns to find a better agreement. See: Consensus Decision Making.
Map your system, if it feels right. This can help you learn about each other, but it can also be soothing to feel like you have some understanding of who's in your head when you're being flooded with new system members.
Again, keep it simple. What do you actually need to know? What would help you in a practical sense? Start there, then branch out if you'd like to get to know each other better.
Consider making a simple guide to your life. If someone had to handle a day in your life with little to no prior knowledge of it, then what would they need to know?
Where should they check to see if you have any appointments? Are they responsible for feeding any pets? Where can they find money if they need it, and how do they know how much to spend? Do you have a job, and do they need to work it? Etc.
Hopefully you never need this guide, but it's a lifesaver for any unexpectedly amnesiac system members.

when i was 12 and new to tumblr i didn't know what bisexual meant and i thought it was like you had split personalities and one was gay and one was straight so i asked someone i was kind of friends with "who are you today?" and when they went ??? i said "are you the gay one or the straight one today" and they blocked me
Bi people when their gay side takes over
ppl on ao3 should use the "this work was inspired by" option more. so many fics out there that put links to other fics in the a/n but theres a better option.....
☝️ use this!!!!!!
important addition i forgot that not everyone might know. similar to how ao3 bookmarks work, you can also link to non-ao3 fanworks using this format. so, for instance, if theres some fanart on tumblr that inspired you to write the fic? you can link that fanart to your fic!
States of Being
We were trying to explain to some friends earlier that saying "this person is in front" and "this person is co-conscious" isn't always the most useful phrasing for us because either of those terms can mean a lot of different things. We have our own words that we like to use to describe where folks can be in relation to our awareness.
The states on this chart are still a bit of a simplification, as we flow between them and it's more of a spectrum than a discrete set, but they're close enough to the actual language that we use to do the job.
Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Too many girlfriends? Not a problem for the hawkfish! The species in this family are protogynous, meaning that all individuals start out as females at birth. As adults, they form harems around a dominant male; but if there are too many females, then one or more of them will change into males and branch off with up to half of the remaining females. Not enough girlfriends? Not a problem either! If the number of females in a harem gets too low, or if they lose a challenge from another male, the former harem leader will simply revert back to being female.

I forget straight people have a really bad habit of using top/bottom to mean dom/sub until I’m talking to someone who calls a women in a m/f relationship a ‘top’ and they get mad at me because I think they meant she’s pegging the guy. Apparently they mean she’s just kinda mean and controlling in bed. This is like the 3rd time this year this has happened.
Being into m/f ships is hard because you will look up “Top [women] Bottom [man]” and all the posts will be incorrectly tagged dombottom women/subtop guy and if you ask people to correctly tag stuff you are the bad guy. I want to her fucking him in his hole!!
BWHAHAHHAHA
I love all of the comic blogs but slight psa announcement as I've seen a few blogs do this and it has been making it super difficult to read come comics, this isn't aimed ofc but this is important for accessibility
Please if you guys make comics please make sure the colors you are picking aren't too close to the background in shade as it makes it harder for those with less than perfect eyesight (us for example) to see the colors. A quick and easy way to check that is to put on a gray scale filter on your device of choosing. This especially applies to those who use thinner lines.
An example of bad contrast and good contrast below:
If you're really like super confused ever if somethings too close in contrast amd the grey scale trick isn't working then a site that I think would be helpful is https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ but heads up it is mostly for text. Plug in your background color & line color and you can probably get some idea if it's a goof color or not. But I honestly would recommend the Grey scale test anyways.
Another note is that it’s generally better to avoid light on light colors, especially if your comics tend to lean towards thin line work.
Im not your dad you technically can do whatever you want but if the contrast bad then it makes it so much harder for people like me, and people with Worse eyesight than me to read your comic.

I am aromantic. I've never really been keen on romance and romantic relationships. Even as a kid the idea didn't feel all that appealing, at least not like it seemed to be for my classmates. Today, the idea of myself being in a romantic relationship is repulsive.
However, On occasion, I find myself with an incredible yearning for connection. I've never been the best at making friends, but even when I have very close friends, I still feel somewhat empty and alone. I don't feel like I've had a friend who has truly understood me, at least not in the way I seem to crave. Am I too closed off? Am I just unlikeable? Questions like these swarm in my mind when I get into these phases. They've been happening more often as I get older.
While in another one of these bouts of loneliness, I realized something. These feelings happen a lot more often in spring. Nesting season. The time of year when birds are establishing old bonds or creating new ones for the continuation of their species. Building or remodeling their homes to keep them up-to-date and comfortable for the new life to come.
Perhaps some of these feelings can be attributed to the fact that I am a bird. I feel the urge to follow the bird calendar. Lucky for me, the life of a college student lines up pretty nicely to that of a bird.
Beyond an urge for some sort of "partner," a major dream of mine is to adopt a child. However, I doubt that dream will ever happen since I would most likely adopt as a single parent, which makes the process all the more challenging.
Maybe I will find an incredible friend who will marry me for tax benefits and be parents with me. Maybe I won't. I just wish I could stop getting these intense periods of yearning. It's annoying.

This was the major inspiration for my piece of Vultur and Zora's egg. I'm very proud of what I was able to depict here. They were on a walk in the woods near town and came upon an abandoned Robin egg. Little did Vultur know that this would be the beginning of a new era of love and warmth.
[Image description: An older anthro turkey vulture walking along a forest path with a walking stick in one hand. Their other arm is cradling a large bright blue egg against their chest. Text reads: You'll be alright now, little one... End description.]
