Accessories- Make or Break Your OOTD
My accessories for the day are simplistic and elegant. A hand painted Ma'ti bangle (from so long ago), a hand picked Ma'ti bangle, and a color lifted Ma'ti Shayla. What more could a girl ask for? Your accessories can make or break your outfit, and when you shop Ma'ti, there's no breaking anything. Neither your look, nor your bank. It's that simple, and that elegant. Shop Ma'ti.
P.S. there's an awesome giveaway in the works, so I suggest you keep up.

Project life - Sriracha Honey Wings
So, one of my co-workers came and told me about this recipe for Sriracha Honey Wings, that he had made them and bragged about how good they were. Not even a week later I was on the mission to make my own. Not only because I love cooking, and am a housewife at heart, but I LOVE Sriracha sauce!!! If you're not familiar, check professor google and he'll give you a few lessons.
Any who, I ran to the store to do a haul for couponing (I know I didn't last time but I PROMISE this time I'll post my haul), and made sure to get all of the ingredients for the wings. I made them using a recipe from the food network. But of course, with any recipe, I never just leave it at that. I always have to add my own touch. I made it with this simple pasta throw Ummi (my mother) use to make when I was younger, and a tasty cranberry garden salad. Here are all three stages of the Wings, and the meal right before consumption!
Before baking with the oil garlic mixture...
After baking...
After tossing with the sauce...
I put some lemon pepper on the salad and tossed it a few times, and the fettuccine was cooked and mixed with a little olive oil, Italian seasoning and a sprinkle of salt. This meal was very tasty and the children loved it...which is always the purpose of a cooked meal. If you'd like to try these wings, here is the link to the recipe.

The Modesta - My inspiration
My sister is this amazing, mother of six, wonder woman, that I respect more and more every single day. If it weren't for my watching her make it work with what she had/has, I probably wouldn't be the hard worker I am today. She is infinitely an inspiration for me to continue to push harder, and always remain true to myself, as well as God. Allah bless you. Again and again and again.

A Quick Note - Business As Usual
If you don't know me on facebook, my poetry blog or youtube, you probably don't know I am co-owner and one of the designers of Ma'ti Designs; a clothing and accessories business run by my sister (check out her blog at themodesta.com) and I. We recently had our logo updated by Tailor Made Graphics, and I am so in love with it that I had to share. That's all, just sharing the love.

Black- A Wardrobe Staple
So, Spring is finally here, and while everyone is wondering just which colors and pieces will be trending as essential must-haves, I am not worried at all. I say that black is an absolute staple no matter which season is upon us. I have never followed trends, and have always been content with what I believed looked good...on me. Whatever colors went well with my skin tone, what ever pieces I was inspired by at the time, and however my mood dictated what I'd put on; was what I went with. I am happy that the season has changed and we are finally able to pull out the natural fibers to relax our aesthetic a little and cool off a bit. But I am keeping the black in my closet, and may even add to it this spring. I'd say, make sure you are purchasing fabrics that breathe (such as cotton, linen, etc.), but no one season or person should dictate what makes you feel good. My solution to get the best of both worlds is to keep my black, and add a splash of color. Hence today's OOTD.
Extreme Couponing & Makeup Review
Did somebody say extreme couponing AND makeup?
So, I started couponing recently, and I absolutely love this lifestyle change. I have been saving so much money that it excites me, and enables me to buy MORE of everything! I just hope I don't become so addicted that I miss the point of saving. :-/ Anyway, this week in the Sunday paper there were inserts which included $4.00 off of any Almay product of choice. When I saw it I became extremely overjoyed. I buy 5 inserts a week, so to think, I can buy 5 colors of lip gloss and pay only a few CENTS for them!?!? Seriously? It was as if I had just won the lottery. I got lots of other things on my couponing trip, but I'll post them later. As for the items of makeup I purchased, these babies are awesome! I love their moisture and light tint. I don't wear lipstick, and never have, but have always been the lip gloss fanatic. So when I can find an item that is not too colorful, and doesn't dry my lips out, I fall in love immediately. The best part about this product is that it's not too shiny. It is the perfect combination of shade and shine. I am definitely a happy consumer!
Thank you Almay!
BeeTrue The Hijabi Critic
I feel like I shouldn't have to suggest this, but, why not be royal everyday? People always ask me why I am so dressed up, or look a certain way when "you're just going to the store," they say. But I never understood- understand the question. I believe in looking my very best at every waking moment. And no, this doesn't equate to being conceited, nor do I mean become preoccupied with outer appearance; but I have learned that looking better is feeling better and vice versa. I woke up feeling beautiful (which I usually do) and I wanted to share that with the world, in a modest way. So I chose to wear Purple, and show my royalty.
P. S. Welcome to my new blog, BeeTrue-The Hijabi Critic.
