I actually enjoyed that musical? Plot may not have been crystal clear to people giving thought to preconceived judgements while watching it, but I thought it was a beautiful narrative of grace with (admittedly) an odd subplot of a leader being taken. The music was written in 1980 so yes, synthesizer, but sometimes that sounds cool. Odd beats and awkward ways of wrapping the melodies around a curve before bringing it back made it sound a little Burton-esque (given the musical stylings in many of his movies), which I found fascinating that it all ended up working out. I hear you about the costuming and choreography, it was pretty uncomfortable to watch, but again, this is a child of the 80s we're talking about here. I get that not everyone likes it, but it is part of what motivated me to become a music major and yearn to become a composer, so that I can leave a unique mark on the musical world (though what goes on in my head does not sound like a Burton movie - think a lot more symphonic and Beethoven-esque).
if i ever start a band i’m going to name it “music” and then it will be literally impossible to find any of our songs on the internet
the first album : “Unknown album”
the hit single: “track 1”

I constantly question whether or not I have the right to call myself a musician.
I always have wondered this: when do you guys think it’s appropriate for a person to start referring to their self as a musician?
It’s said that the composer Gustav Mahler was sitting in his studio completing a new piano piece. As he was playing, one of his students came into the room and listened quietly. At the end of the piece the student said, “Maestro, that was wonderful. What is it about?” Mahler turned to him and said, “It’s about this,” and he played it again.

I have a problem and it’s called “songs in musicals titled confrontation”
I have a problem, and it's that 5 of these are from the same show...
classical musicians are depicted as “lame” because of the music they play, but when a violinist starts playing a pop song, they suddenly become “cool”
obviously. being able to play this is cool:
being able to play this isn’t:
“People who think classical music is boring have never seen pop music from a sheet music point of view.” - another tumblr post I’ve seen.
reblogging again because that ^
You see, it’s funny because it’s true.
But this also makes it sad
You see, it's funny because it's true.
Concept: me, spending time with my closest friends. We’re all in the kitchen while I’m cooking dinner, my apartment is cozy and it smells delicious. It’s raining outside and we’re all laughing, with no stress.
This is my dream

When your teacher says you played something really well
This happened to me one time literally ever. I played the Vivaldi viola concerto in G and when I was done with the most difficult run of 16th note triplet groups, he just looked at me and went; "wow." And the more he said that, the louder he got and the happier I felt about my ability to play. It was a nice change

Stranger: you play an instrument?
Me: yes I play this here instrument
Stranger: cool can you play something for me?
My brain: it is time to scream
The people who come running to hug you after you haven’t seen them in awhile are my favorite type of people.

those parts of musicals where everyone’s singing their own melodies at once but then it reaches a climax and everyone sings the same tune, like that’s the most satisfying thing ever
