Question for all of the Kanye fans or former Kanye fans:
With the recent antics Kanye’s been on for the last couple of years, specifically his political views, does it make it hard for you to listen to and/or celebrate his previous work as milestone anniversaries are coming up?
For example, today marks the 10th anniversary of the album that directly or indirectly influenced your favorite artists and changed the sound of a lot of music that we know of today in 808s & Heartbreak.
I was a huge Kanye fan, I loved everything from his earliest work to TLOP. I went to the Saint Pablo concert and at the time it was literally the best night of my life.
But his comments on slavery were so fucking stupid that I both stopped listening to his new stuff and deleted a lot of old stuff from my music library. Might seem extreme but his comments were so jarring to me even as a white guy that I couldn’t appreciate his old music the same. It’s like the message was lost.
The music is just not as a enjoyable anymore to me personally. He was my favorite rapper since 2008, now that I view him so differently and am no longer drinking the KoolAid his music went from great to good. So it’s a lot harder to appreciate his work.
That being said (and this is of course some bullshit on my end)I have little to no problem enjoying 808’s at all. The music is just so different and songs don’t have the same message as Jesus Walks or Gorgeous or New God Flow that his comments didn’t harm that album the same. I’m thankful for that because I remember how much shit he got for that album but it’s a classic and I love almost every song on it.
Kanye’s music got me through some shit but I couldn’t ignore his buffoonery. His words were awful, had the rhetoric was harmful to black people, and completely stripped his greatest songs of meaning to me.
Sorry for the rant lol, it just highlights how much I loved him and how disappointing his behavior has been. He doesn’t owe me shit but being the person I am it wouldn’t sit well with me to pretend he didn’t say those things and act like it didn’t affect his music.
Former Kanye fan
I listen to all his music up until TLOP. I don’t listen to any current music at all, nor will I.
I listen to his old music because it was a part of my life. I can tie Kanye west songs to specific experiences and feelings from various moments in my life and I can’t disregard that because he got hooked on drugs and started saying dumb shit.
It’s hard to listen to him now. Features and production included. Not as enjoyable.
WHITE WOMENNNNNN

Chicago gave us R. Kelly and Kanye
time to throw the whole city away and start over
I can’t believe Cardi tried to fight Nicki
I like Cardi but she’s just disgustingly ghetto and classless. Why is a grown, accomplished woman fighting in public, let alone at an upscale, exclusive event like the Harper’s Bazaar party??? She just gave birth and she’s already acting like a wild, street animal. I suffered second hand embarrassment watching that video.
The love and hip hop jumped out
Y’all are so fuckin corny.
Listen to how you sound. You sound like classist, pompous, white people looking at a black woman making her out to be “disgustly ghetto” for lashing out at someone who disrespected her child.
Fuck the decorum. Fuck all them coked our European models. Fuck fashion week. That’s my child you subtweeting like shit is sweet. That pussy behavior and if that happens you gotta see about me, and you better have that same energy.
You made Cardi out to be the angry black woman when contextually, her anger is justified and ritcheous. That why you and @westafricanbaby are fuckin cornballs for this.
I’ve been trying my best to ignore and not respond to a lot of you idiots.
FIRST OF ALL, Nicki DID NOT talk about Cardi’s child. I don’t know why you people keep running with that nonsense. She did not “subtweet” ANYTHING. She LIKED a tweet ABOUT CARDI’s PARENTING SKILLS. Did you even see the tweet or are you just running your mouth based off what you heard????? The only child Nicki has actually talked about is Kylie’s child, Stormi. Did you see Kylie run up on Nicki????? As much as i dislike the Jenner/Kardashian clan, if Kylie decided to attack Nicki, she would have been beyond justified but Kylie handled the situation like an adult with common sense. Also, Let’s not forget Cardi was the one making fun of someone’s dead son and calling him a monkey.
2)I don’t know why you stupid people keep bringing white people into this. Nobody said shit about white people. Even if they were at the BET awards, that behavior would have STILL been inappropriate. Why is a grown woman fighting in public let alone at a big event, getting their dress torn, their whole ass out with lumps on their head??? How on earth do you people not see how embarrassing that is???? WHERE THE HELL WHERE YOU RAISED?????
3)Angry black woman where??? I don’t consider Cardi black. you people are the ones that forced her to call herself black. Being from the DR or Trinidad doesn’t automatically make you black. Cardi’s parents don’t even look black. She is very racially ambiguous and there’s nothing wrong with that. Let us not forget there was a time Dominicans that looked like Cardi fought tirelessly to not be seen as black and they have always treated Darker skinned Dominicans or Dominicans with black features the same way white people treat black people in America. Also, if cardi b was black people would have labeled her ghetto when her career first started and she would have never made it this far.
3.5)Also, i refer to white women and women of other races that fight like wild animals the same way. I call the women on mob wives animals because of how they fight and no one says anything. I call whoavicky and that “cash me outside” girl ghetto gutter trash EVERYTIME and no one says anything, I’ve called the white side of Meghan Markles family ghetto several times so KILL that angry black woman nonsense. Do that fake woke nonsense with someone else.
4) if stating that Cardi had no business fighting and embarrassing herself the way she did is classist and pompous, then i am PROUDLY classist and pompous. There is a time and place for everything. An adult with common sense should know fighting at a Harper’s Bazaar function is stupid.
I SAID WHAT I SAID AND I STAND BY IT.
PERIOD. @dookiediamonds
Lmaoooo my sis had a point 3.5 lmaooooooo 😂
Isnt @dookiediamonds the one that was sellin ass, his girlfriend still cheated on him and was embarrassing himself by promoting his pitiful story on everyone’s post…???
You have some nerve callin anyone a cornball Sir😂
Cardi is a hoodlum with no class, period. 🤮
@okayysophia
Never went through with it. As stated.
My ex girlfriend also sexually assaulted me, make sure you laugh at the whole story. 🤷🏿♂️
okayyyyy so like I don’t understand WHY yall keep bringing up him thinking about getting into sex work as an and being cheated on as a valid insult.
AND LIKE HE SAID YALL DEF LEFT OUT THE PART OF HIM SAYING HE WAS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY HIS EX IN THAT SAME STORY.
as much as I like @westafricanbaby her comments and name calling towards cardi are extemely bordering that line that Africans take when referring to African Americans and that’s my take on it.
The hoodlums and piece of trash comments are so EXTRA and disrespectful and it’s a common tone amongst yall.
At the end of the day a fight happened or was suppose to happen.
Not just between Cardi an Nicki but this shit has been happening in hip hop culture for years. It happens at cookouts barbeques in the clubs.
Your issue isn’t with Cardi it’s the culture. It’s apart of the culture.
I been into fights. I don’t believe this woman wouldn’t have responded like this unless she’s been antagonized.
Theres no denying that yall already think hood black people or hood culture is “classless” or whatever the case may be and it’s showing.
BUt God forbid we start using terms like “Spear chucker and tree climber to describe yall”
the issue with cardi b and nicki is yall projecting yall issues towards African American culture.
this post is wild and i still dont get how cardi b with her 4A hair and bell pepper nose is “racially ambiguous” , niggas was def calling cardi b ghetto during her come up, her being light skin and benefiting from colorism got her far, than most. y’all can make your points about her anti black racist transmisogynist ass without invalidating her obvious blackness. also the classism of this post that’s obviously racialized lol even if u try to make it “general”. and i aint no cardi b apologist for her ugly shit, but its interesting nicki’s own anti blackness esp thru her lyrics gets swept under the rug, THEY both trash. and this nicki apologism is tiring.
this whole post is wild.
Ok but who on this post is gonna squabble?
A “fight” between two birds damn near started up a diaspora war.
