Been messing with board game ideas recently.
The most developed idea is called “The Misadventures of Kentos” where the players are the last, last, LAST hope for the land. They were given legendary weapons and artifacts to defeat the goblin king but none of them know how to use these weapons. The gameplay resolves around you trying to minimize your chance of rolling “mishap dice” where if they are rolled a common fantasy disaster occurs for the archetype you are playing. For example the alchemist potion explodes are transforms you into a sheep, or the barbarian enters a state of supreme calm during combat.
Another one is Castle Flow where you play as the servants of Dracula trying to build a castle that satisfies him. He will give you tasks on how he wants the castle build or what rooms he wants and to win you fill up his satisfaction meter. The heroes of the nearby town will begin to flood the castle in a horde defense type of way. Your job as the servants is to keep them from getting to Dracula’s room, if they make it the hero’s will die but Dracula will get angry with you and punish you. At the end of every round the castle will teleport and you get to rearrange the rooms of the castle. I’m thinking the timing element of the game will be the town will eventually get legendary hero’s and if 3 legendary hero’s get to Dracula the game ends and you lose.
My least developed idea is an engine builder called “The Wunderest Waffe” where you all play as the RND of different fiction facist imperialist empires. They give you insane demands to meet for their super weapons and none of you are working with enough resources or time. To win the game your weapon has to survive the longest, eventually the good guys will always destroy your ridiculous weapon.
