According to John Bancroft, former director of The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction, vaginal lubrication normally forms in response to sexual stimuli, which cause an increase in the blood flow to the vagina, which in turn causes the formation of modified plasma transudate on the inner lining of the vagina( similar to sweating), forming a lubricating layer that protects it against friction, injury and infection ( in the book Human Sexuality and Its Problems, chapter "Sexual arousal and response — the psychosomatic circle"). Plasma(has more than 1 meaning) is one of the components of blood. It's not red (doesn't contain the oxygenated iron that gives blood it's color), so vaginal lubrication should be a clear/translucent viscous liquid.

Lubrication should only form during sexual activities. It's a problem if (outside of sexual activities) so much vaginal fluid leaks that you have to use menstrual products. Please ask a doctor if you think those sources are not trustworthy enough. Don't just think you know everything 😒.

Outrageous and Terrifying

Have you ever had one of those days where the universe just suddenly takes a massive dump on someone you care deeply for who has been struggling through an awful situation?

That was yesterday for us.

Romana is a twenty-one year old computer science student, coming up on two years into her degree. She escaped her abusive, toxic, controlling parents in November 2021 and has been living peacefully, renting on her own for a year now.

Yesterday afternoon, her parents showed up on her doorstep with social workers and a court order for guardianship. They ordered her into their car, and acted like the fact that they hadn't called the cops yet was them being nice. They guilt-tripped her about how much they missed her for the entire ride back to their house, and then the next morning had to be talked down from taking her phone and computer away twice.

That's what guardianship means, y'all, that she's not permitted to make property decisions. She is not permitted to live where she chooses. She is not permitted to talk to who she wishes. If she attempts to make her own decisions, she risks being held in contempt of court.

They did not serve her the required notice, nor did they serve her lawyer notice. Romana and her lawyer were not contacted by mail; were not contacted by email; and were not contacted over the phone, despite all these methods of contact having been given to her parents and their lawyers.

There was no attendable court session, where evidence could presented or witnesses could take the stand. She has not been permitted her right to look a judge in the eye and say "See for yourself. Ask me what you wish. Do I seem like I'm my own person to you?"

This happened because the justice who signed the judgment did so without reading any of it. Justice Smith did not read the application, the responses from Romana's lawyer, the capacity assessment report, or even the text of the draft judgment that was signed. How in the inkstained void does that happen?

Romana is eloquent, intelligent, and a great friend. She's been stripped of nearly every right at a moment's notice due to the selfishness of her parents. Honestly, I don't really feel comfortable referring to them as her parents, as though she were some upstart teenager depending on them for everything.

In the province of Ontario, there are two adults who want to keep a de facto prisoner and discreetly got the state to rubber stamp it. That prisoner is my friend, someone I care about deeply.

Try to imagine how that feels. Please, put yourself in Romana's shoes, trapped in that absurdist nightmare. Please try to imagine a fraction of the frustration dawning on horror, the confusion dawning on fury.

Ontario has given Romana no help to pay legal fees. There's no program that will help cover it, no charity that will pitch in. I should know. I looked. I know that sounds like an insane state of affairs, but we spent weeks looking and found nothing. She's got only the resources of a college student, barely scraping by with the help of friends, her sister, and GoFundMe.

Romana is just a person. And like any person, she just wants to live a life of basic freedom and dignity.

Violence and cruelty were just a stupid person’s way of making himself felt because it was easier to use their hands to strike a blow than to use their brain to find a logical and fair solution to a problem. I don't think that using the same punishment for every kind of transgression is fair

I’m no longer safe here

Hi I got physically attacked the other day by a family member after he started a nasty screaming match (again) about trans people being rapists. He threw a bowl of hot food and a fork as hard as he could into the back of my head as I was leaving.

Since it’s reached physical violence, i’m no longer safe here, and I gotta get me and my cats out of here. I got some options, and once i’m settled somewhere I can find a new job, but I need help to get out first, so I set up a GFM.

Lack of funding, staff shortage strains Vera House operations

On Monday night, Randi Bregman, a co-executive director of Vera House, brought a client to the hospital when no other staff could. Angela Douglas, another Vera House co-executive director, escorted a separate client to the hospital last week.

“What you might think is a typical day for co-executive directors, is anything but,” Bregman said.

Vera House, an organization that offers emergency shelter, advocacy and counseling for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, is facing a financial crisis due to the pandemic and the “Great Resignation” — a term that refers to the economic trend where American workers resigned from their jobs in 2021. Private organizations are pulling their staff away by offering higher pay.

Vera House also lost a $125,000 grant for an elder abuse program, Douglas said. The two are committed to reforming the organization to also provide care and sustainability to their staff.

“We, looking into 2022, said we want to recruit staff at the level we think they deserve to be earning at the organization,” Bregman said. “And we want to address equity issues in the organization and retain the staff we have, so we committed to invest in that coming into 2022 even though we didn’t have the income to support it.”

dealing with a narcissist be like. this person will never ever understand that they’re wrong, they will never understand that hurting others is wrong, that their actions are cruel or that what they do is unacceptable. it’s like dealing with someone who will no matter what commit atrocities and then play dumb about it and expect to be coddled and praised for it. and if you try to explain they rage or cry or both. it’s like they don’t even understand they’re forcing you to throw your self esteem into the trash while they do it. they punish and guilt you for trying to defend any boundaries like it’s a natural thing to do. you’re left in confusion and self doubt, all while suppressing mountains and mountains of trauma, injustices, neglect, violations, humiliation and crimes against your person, and it never stops.

Some people are crazy enough to say "hitting children is okay and normal", but in reality it has negative impacts on them and ain't normal at all. I think they're too stupid to come up with another way to punish besides violence.

The trick is to heal and behave in such a way that if anyone said that you were abused/hurt/badly treated, no one would even believe that person since all you do is reflect unconditional love.

The trick is to build small habits and a life so large that your trauma is the smallest part of a magnificent life and not your whole identity.

The trick is to introduce yourself in your next therapy session with the things that you've created, people that you've helped, songs that you've danced to, bad feelings that you've overcome and not about the incident that leaves your heart weak.

The trick is to know that what happened, has happened but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be everything that your life is made up of. That your story goes beyond those harsh incidences and that you have higher realms protecting you.

The trick is to eventually come in terms with humanity and understand that everyone exists in spectrum, that people do what they can with what they've learnt over the years and that has absolutely nothing to do with you. That we're all grey and sometimes our hands get tainted with colours that we can't get rid off and that's okay.

The trick is to learn to build the capacity for connection because that is the one thing that will save you, no matter how overwhelming it may seem at first.

The trick is to go out with that friend who so desperately wanted to meet you but you kept avoiding it. It's to shut those internal voices out, just go and have fun.

The trick is to know that you're loved even when it does not feel like it at the moment.
