I kind of miss the impulsivity that certain spaces used to allow. oh you want a hair cut today? hairdresser in the corner can fit you in before her 2 o’clock. tattoo of a cobra… sure leg or arm? even concerts, back when you could go to the box office thirty mins before any show. not saying these things don’t exist at all, but everything feels booked five months in advance and 10x more expensive
“Am I the only one who—” yes. You’re all alone. And nobody shares your experiences or loves you. And you’re floating on a raft in a dark ocean and there’s sharks and squids trying to get you and lightning is crashing and the water is choppy and black
sorry but once you notice how often ppl use a southern accent as shorthand for being unintelligent you can never unsee it. classism is baked so deeply and why are you acting like anyone who talks the way my grandfather talks is stupid.
Fun facts about immigration in the US you might want to share with friends and relatives for no particular reason
The United States actually had open borders until 1924. There was no cap on immigration, and people were only denied access based on race and disability. (NOTE: Open borders means little to no formal restriction on movement across borders. There was still terrible discrimination.) (x)
The Immigration Act of 1924 had an overall negative impact on the economy (x) (x) and foreign relations with Asia, but Hitler praised it (x), because it was just blatant eugenics (x).
ICE didn't exist until 2003 (x)
Being undocumented is not actually classified as a crime (x). If it was, cases would be handled by the judicial branch, and defendants would receive the benefits of due process. But because it isn't, it is handled by the executive branch, and defendants do not get due process, in clear violation of their rights. That means no lawyers, no jury, and no real judge.
Immigration "judges," who are not required to have nearly as much experience or education in law as real judges (x), face no consequences for wrongful deportation, they are only really evaluated based on how many people they process.
While it's difficult to pin down an exact number, there have been an estimated 4,000 wrongful detention/deportations by 2010 alone (x - this one suggests a possible 20,000) (x - this one confirms over a thousand), with several reported on in mainstream media (Mark Lyttle, Pedro Guzman, Roberto Dominquez, Andres Gonzalez, Esteban Tiznado-Reyna).
In April 2025, there were several more confirmed wrongful deportations, including a 2-year-old citizen deported to Honduras (x) (x), a 10-year-old with brain cancer on her way to a medical appointment (x), and a 7-year-old and her 4-year-old brother with stage 4 cancer (x).
There were more deaths in ICE concentration camps in 2025 than almost any year prior, tying for first place with 2003 (x). If nothing is done about it, that number will increase in 2026.
- wish i could do nothing with you

OOOOOh this explains a lot to me. In my wonderous experience of researching perfume, I've come across bits of this. One of the best articles I found about the history of aldehydes devolved into a psuedo-scientifc screed on are aldehydes poisonous (they're not), AND that one weird comment about oakmoss being a reproductive inhibitor (I WISH), but yeah, OF COURSE, it's a right wing misogyny campaign that paints anything "femenine" (perfume, cosmetics, skin care, bath products, you know, nice things that many women use to make the misery of life bearable) as unnatural and bad for you.
If you are infertile, I promise you, it's not your fault. :) Cultural misogyny wants to blame infertility on women's actions and virtue SO MUCH when it's really just a biological dice roll. And also, men can be infertile, too.
And if you are fertile and want to be infertile (I'd be so happy if I could never have a period again), I have bad news for you: keep up your birth control prescription and wait until menopause. Or get your tubes tied or whatever. Perfume isn't going to help you.
In the meantime, I'm going to be dousing myself in Opium to keep the anti-vaxxers away.
if he has abs he doesnt care about you
men with abs aren’t capable of love

Fellas, it IS gay to be straight XD
Every time I hear a showrunner say some shit about how the reason he doesn't want to write his male slashbait duo into a romantic relationship is because "their bond is so powerful and profound that it transcends sex or romance" I want to ask him, "Does your wife know your bond with her is too weak and shallow to transcend sex and romance? Or do you not fuck her either, because you love her too much?"
You cannot talk about homophobia without also talking about misogyny. It is baked in.
I'm thinking of Symphony of the Sixth Blast Furnace by Evgeny Sedukhin again...
hmm okay i'm trying to dig up a source on this painting, to see if i could find it in any higher quality
but i can't find any evidence of its existence from before 2018 lmao
and searching the artist's name only gets me like 6 pages of results on google
and a little artist showcase page on arthive for this guy with exactly 1 painting listed
and a biography that spells this guy's name like 5 different ways
which i'm pretty sure is because it's machine translated from something
very mysterious
oh doing his name in russian gives me some actually useful results, why didn't i think to do that

Sooner or later, you need to acknowledge that the 2017 women in the pink pussy hats were 100% right about everything.
“it’s because they’re always on that damn phone” -scientist studying the declining birthrate
It’s sooooo interesting that they keep studying the topic rigorously and writing piece after piece on what the cause could be but they never want to address the fact that America is not a good place to have a child. Even though the birth rate is falling across the board, they have to find some reason to make it a problem of the individual, a matter of selfishness or distraction instead of a greater societal struggle.
but also why are people at office jobs getting free donuts more than jobs where you're actually hungry as fuck 😭😭😭 give donuts to anyone doing manual labor and the performative dieting issue will disappear immediately #truthnuke
You are 60% water and every lake, river, pond, swamp, creek, and ocean you encounter wants to reclaim it desperately. Be careful out there.
Good, I hope it haunts everyone about to enter a body of water so bad that they wear a life jacket. 🙌
Every single person I knew (past tense) who has drowned was "a strong swimmer." Water in the wild does not care how good you are at swimming.
I mean this with all due respect:
You are not going to pass a skillcheck against a rip current once it has you.
Waves will not bow to your physical prowess no matter how impressive.
Shock does not care that you used to be on your school swim team.
If you hit your head, being good at swimming isn't going to turn you face-up while you're unconscious.
You may be unable to return to shore. Rescue may be unable to find you quickly.
Scheduling this for when weather starts warming up. Be careful swimming this summer
I am old enough to remember when the guys who are now in the looksmaxxing community would have labeled these same habits as "metrosexual behavior" and purposefully stopped showering so none of their peers would think they were gay
