NAME: Cadence ‘Cade’ Ashmore
FACE CLAIM: Chloe Grace Moretz
[ + ] graceful, daring, intelligent
[ - ] stubborn, impatient, careless
Before the storm, Cade was not quite the normal teenage girl. She was one for getting down and dirty in the back roads of Kentucky. Her best friends were a group full of rowdy teenage boys who loved to drive around in their mud-covered pickup trucks. She was one for weekend bomb-fires and late night mudding in the open fields of her small town. Some would call her a tomboy, she would call just call it ‘living life to the fullest’.
Cade’s parent’s were that of a specific breed; Crazy. At least, that’s what she called it. Her mother and father were the local freaks that nearly every town has, they were the Preppers. Owning their very own Apocalypse Proof bomb shelter, Cade’s parents were convinced that the end was near, and they sure as hell weren’t going to let it happen without being prepared. They were obsessed with the idea that some day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day, the world was going to change in a terribly drastic way. They filled Cade’s mind with the art of defense and stealth, telling her not to forget a damn thing. They knew how the rest of the town saw them, but they didn’t care at all.
As for high school, Cade was a bit of a threat to the other students. Her group of country-bound friends being an exception to this category, most of the school feared her. Although some kept their fear quiet and in the shadows, others blatantly stated it allowed. But, could you really blame them? Being the daughter of the local Apocalypse preppers, and being skilled in nearly every art of defense, it was a wise choice to stay off her bad side. Though, Cade chose not to express her anger in physical abuse to others.
If Cade was to ever build up anger over something, she would take it out on a punching bag. She spent most of her free hours, ones that didn’t consist of stupidity with the guys, were spent at the gym. She worked out for nearly 4 hours a day, it got to the point that her knuckles had to be bandaged. Luckily, that didn’t affect her ability to study or do homework.
If there was anything that Cade valued most in life, it was school. Although the didn’t seem like the type of girl to value her grades, Cade was one to be unpredictable. She studied through most of every night, trying to keep her grade point average up to it’s highest point, just so she could get into a good college. Her Freshman and Sophmore years were easy for her. She was only in her Junior year of high school when the unbelievable occurred.
When the storm hit Mississippi, Cade couldn’t believe it. It looked like her parents weren’t crazy after all. But, as unfortunate as it was, it looked like her shelter wasn’t going to help with this type of Apocalypse. Within the first week after the storm hit, their shelter was ripped to shreds by the acid rain that swept through Kentucky.
Her parents, having their ‘clever’ ideas, decided it was best they head to Florida. They said it would be safer, since the storm had mostly spread away from it’s starting point. Boy, were they wrong.
Arriving nearly a month after the storm hit, they saw the true damage this new world had endured. Though they had met their first mutants long ago, they were wasps compared to this sight. Mutants were scattered everywhere. It wasn’t a week later that Cade became the last Ashmore standing. A terrible sight, her mother and father were devoured by what she had learned to be called a Brain. The creature was vicious, barely allowing Cade to escape with her life.
From there on, it was harder than ever. She had to keep herself from crying for weeks, scared that she would attract a mutant. They haunted her dreams along with the whispering ghosts of the ones she had lost. It was an especially vivid dream when someone had stumbled upon her hiding spot.
It was a human. A living, breathing, non-mutated human. Cade had to do a double-take on that one. The person had been on a supply run when they found her on the verge of screeches in an abandoned factory. They claimed to be from a group, one of the most safest in the town. It took a bit of convincing, but she finally got them to let her join.
Cade won them over once she showed them her long-developed skills. Taking a week to decide where she belonged, she chose Supply Runner. She believed that with her defense skills and her quick and sneaky skills, she could be he best of the best.
