There’s been a lot of love for Richard Hunt being spread across tumblr today, especially if you follow as many muppet blogs as I do. Richard passed on this day back in 1992, he performed a wide variety of muppets from Scooter to Sweetums.
I wanted to share this clip from The Last Hurrah when we had the incredible pleasure of interviewing Brian Jay Jones regarding Jim Henson The Biography. In it, Brian Jay Jones shares the story of how Richard Hunt found himself in hot water with The Muppet Show and how Jim Henson diffused the situation (as well as Jim’s method for handling most instances of conflict). We broke the story to our Serial Christmas Special using Dan Harmon's story circle. In fact, in the event a story needs to be broken, this is the preferred method.
This was our first scripted episode of The Last Hurrah and it was a blast, many Serial fans and friends who have looked into Serial after seeing our episode have said it was spot on. Kevin's Uncle spent the week that followed our special binge listening to Serial and ignoring the relatives he sees on a yearly basis. So at the very least, we did a lot for Serial last week. Based on the podcast Serial, from Sarah Koenig and This American Life, The Last Hurrah will put a live, comedic, Christmas spin on the true crime show. Join reporter Sarah Koenig (portrayed by Lisa Burl) as she investigates Adnan Syed’s (Giovanni Kavota) claim that a big man in red named Kris Kringle can prove his innocence. It’s the story of one journalist’s quest to find solid evidence that Santa Claus exists and whether convicted criminal Adnan Syed is on the naughty or nice list.
