20 things i learned in 2020
(inspired by shannon barry)
at a moment’s notice, in the blink of an eye, from one second to another, everything can change. there’s no preparing for it sometimes. just accepting it.
being apart doesn’t mean we lack togetherness; there are a multitude of ways to forge connection with someone aside from physically being with them.
it really is the little things – never underestimate just how healing a warm walk or reading a good book can be.
empathy is still a foreign concept to many so surround yourself with people who care about more than just themselves.
just because the world stopped spinning for a few months, doesn’t mean time stopped moving; the months may have bled into each other but that doesn’t mean we were living in an endless march - october still came and it blessed us with orange leaves and crisp skies. july brought the fireworks it promised it would. december still came with christmas. it may have felt different, but it was still there.
don’t be afraid to stand up when others are telling you to sit down; don’t be afraid to shout when others are telling you to be quiet.
the people in your corner will save you in more ways than one and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be saving them too.
you don’t need a reason to do your makeup or wear a fancy dress. look like you’re going to prom in your backyard, eat mcdonald’s with your face beat. who cares? “just because” is always reason enough.
that thing you’ve always wanted to try? do it. instead of starting your thoughts with “what if i” or “i could just” – do it. nothing’s holding you back except for you.
the world will turn upside down in more ways than one and you are going to turn with it; all you can do is hold on tight and go with the flow.
it’s okay to be scared, it’d be scarier if you weren’t.
injustice doesn’t stop because the world stopped; hatred will always be loud and ugly and it’s up to us to turn that pain into promise through education and action.
being alone doesn’t have to be lonely. learn to fall in love with spending time with yourself.
we’re all connected in ways we never realized and we affect each other’s lives in more ways than we’ll ever truly understand. we’re all connected someway, somehow.
just because it seems like everyone else is hustling, doesn’t mean you have to as well. move at you’re own pace.
don’t stop taking pictures just because things are ugly now; one day, you’ll look back and be glad you did.
we haven’t lived through a chapter of a US history textbook – we are still living through one. just because the page is turning doesn’t mean everything is changing. be patient.
you’re allowed to just be. you’re allowed to just exist.
don’t stop chasing happiness just because it’s harder to get a hold of.
keep trying. keep fighting. keep loving. keep living.
(cc, 2020)
sustainability as a concept done on an individual basis shouldn’t be framed as planet saving because it’s. not. you can’t save the earth by planting your own tomatoes, because the destruction of the earth is due to corporations
what you CAN do is use individual sustainability to gain a level of independence from capitalism for yourself and for your community through things like sharing grown food
You misspelled, “I have no idea how the economy works”
I imagined it more like the princess diaries.
i like the idea of having a step-by-step schedule (like breakfast at x time, study at x time, etc.) but who’s gonna regulate that shit? me? that bitch is a toddler
Don't be T.R.A.S.H.
Transphobic
Racist
Ableist
Sexist
Homophobic
It isn't really that hard to be a decent human being.
🗣🗣🗣
Yikes,🤢
Things that would be nice if USA could do for my country.
1. Bring Oreos with different flavors.
2. Open a Panera.
3. Stop consuming fucking drugs, because of your addictions my country and a lot of other Latin countries have become a drug cartel hell, with thousands of deaths, that a lot of people will try to escape to the only "solution" we have near that is your country, but then you will come and treat immigrants that are searching some peace worst than animals, trust me Latinos are really family oriented and we wouldn't like to leave our families but we're being pushed because the USA will come, abuse our resources, our people, don't give a shit about us but the moment they see the consequences (immigration) will want to blame everything and everyone, but themselves, and yes the government of these countries have a lot of responsibility too, but returning to our huge drug cartel problems, they wouldn't have the money if their biggest client (USA) don't buy anything from them, how about the next time you smoke weed without knowing where it came from, or snort a line of coke think about how many deaths and lifetime suffering of our people, your minutes of being high was worth.
4. Open a Wendy's, yeah that would be nice. 😊

I think that this screenshot represents perfectly our generation. Let me explain:
we live in a world that is dying and we're trying to do something, but nobody listen. So a lot of us have decide to live in a "different world", a world made of epic adventure and glory and heroes.
We are a generation divided in half that don't know what to do and at the same time know what should be do, but don't have enough power in his hands.
mne know that if nobody do nothing we will not live long enough to really do something, so we are trying now. Someone try to create a future. Someone have lost all his hope and try to do something that will be remeber now, because there isn't enough time.
It's sad.
what’s up, Y’all, don’t forget to show up to your local Climate Strike tomorrow

Realising you don’t have to tell anyone anything about yourself or your life is.. a very liberating feeling. Realising you can tell the trees and the rivers and the lakes and the mountains instead? Even more so.
