I wanted to do a poll with like "what would you want malcolm's ending to be in prodigal son?" (if the show had a full series and proper series finale) but there's like an infinite amount of options so I'm just throwing the question out there: what you think his ending should have been? something happy, something tragic, something in between, stay with the NYPD, start a new career, does he stay in NYC, brightwell end game, is martin still in his life, ect ect ect?

When the show was airing I really wanted it to eventually end with Martin having an illegitimate child, that turned into a serial killer that was obsessed with the surgeon and finding out about that made Martin realized how fucked up he was and that satisfies Malcolm enough to finally cut ties with him. Malcolm keeps working for the nypd, but he becomes significantly less reckless. I wasn't a big brightwell shipper and I think the relationship would have mostly been teased until pretty close to the end, but once Malcolm cut ties with Martin they would end up together. Gil and Jessica were for sure getting together, early than brightwell. They finally tell us jts name and Edrisa would have finally gotten over her crush on Malcolm and the two of them would be besties. The one lose tie they would leave would be Ainsley doing sinister things (not necessarily murder, but probably) and the series would end with a shot of her walking into Martin's cell. I don't know if I still think this is the ideal ending, but I spent so much time thinking about it I low key can't fathom anything else.
