A Master List of All My Anime Crushes
As a lover-girl and veteran shoujo/josei watcher (going on 13 years this summer), I want to compile all my crushes from anime into one post so I can see them all together, compare them, and also see if I can spot some patterns they all share (I have a pretty obvious type, as you will see, but there are exceptions to this type here and there). Also, while I am posting this, it is kind of like a journal entry a bit so ehehe some very personal opinions here.
PLEASE NOTE: Not all of these crushes are on the same level. Some of the entries on this list earned their place by being adorable with the FL. Others are here because their voice is hot rather than their looks (special shoutout to Umehara Yuuichirou because he has the sexiest voice of all time). I will TRY to put these in order from biggest crush to the weakest, and as we get to the bottom, some of these guys are in high school (I am 25) so there is definitely more of a "He's so cute and we must protect him" energy as opposed to a "Ahaha what's up bbg come over later🤤". Finally, after completing this list I realized there are 100% SPOILERS for all these shows so if you haven't watched them, please do so before reading my rationale sections. I highly recommend every single one of these anime series (well... except maybe hana yori dango lol shit pisses me off). Anyways, read at your own discretion.
Without further ado, lets get into it...
1. Claude Jeanne Elmir from I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss
Rationale: AHHHHHHH that's my waifu!!!!!! Claude is simply the blueprint. His back story pulls at your heart strings, Umehara Yuuichirou VAs him, his transition from tsundere to yandere is PEAK and he realized it quickly without making me stew in the "Does he even like her ughhh???" feeling for too long, he is a demon lord like HELLOOOO, and he is obviously sexy and adorable. I even enjoy his little BDSM tendencies, though for me that is not a huge contributor to his ranking. I do think it is nice for him to have that little quirk to his character for added depth. No notes. Chef's kiss.
2. Nifuji Hirotaka from Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku
Rationale: Another near perfect entry. Hirotaka has a lot of facets and depth as a character in my opinion. I am a sucker for the "is a 10 but is a little insecure/has a past of being insecure and reserved". Endearing backstory... check. Childhood friend/crush trope... check. Cute personality and treats FL well... check (you could never deserve him, Narumi👿 It's on sight). And finally, he is very hot. Perfect score really.
3. Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z
Rationale: Vegeta is the perfect tsundere, has amazing character development as a result of finding love, and is a handsome bad boy AS WELL AS A PRINCE. I love all the memes where they say he hates everyone but his girl because THAT IS SO ATTRACTIVE WTF. He just makes me laugh too like how he is short and has his little quips at Goku and Bulma. I LOVE IT. Truly husband material. Side note: Trunks is also super hot but his age stuff is weird so he doesn't make the list. He also is kind of spoiled like Vegeta but minus the character development and quirky cuteness soooooo.
4. Hua Cheng from Heaven Official's Blessing
Rationale: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I really can't explain this one coherently. It should be obvious though, right? To be cringe is to be free so I'll just come out and say it... Hua Cheng is daddy. He will lay down his life for his love, lie, steal, cheat, you name it. He is powerful and doesn't care what people think. He would 100% be alone if he did not have the perfect love and that love drove him to rise up and succeed. EEEEEE idk they just make me kick my feet, blush, and giggle. But also he is very gorgeous and precious to me.
5. Noah Voltaire Wynknight from Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion
Rationale: PLEASE PLEASE READ THE MANWHA FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. It is honestly a really short read and ehehehehe spoiler alert: there is a little very softcore spice!!! Also let's face it, they would never make a second season of the anime for this show because shoujo doesn't make studios enough money :,(. AAAAaanyway, Noah is another character voiced by Umehara Yuuichirou, which is reason enough to put him on here. However, I love that he falls for Raeliana first and his flirtiness is very very hot/entertaining to watch. He just makes the heart go dokidoki. He is another one who has all the power in the world, would throw it all away to be with his girl, but is badass enough that he'd never have to give anything up because he can simply solve the issue 🤷♀️. Tricks don't work on him. That is a big one for me.

6. Son Hak from Yona of the Dawn
Rationale: While Hak definitely has the handsome and fun/cool guy points in his favor, what really makes me love him and put him on this list is his loyalty and protective nature towards Yona. It is very delicious. He is a character that would do anything for her and never abandon her. But again, also has a fun side, is a badass, aaaand is very hot. The childhood friend trope is so good too. Please read the manga because it is so good and we will never get a season 2 sadly. PLEASE DO YONA OF THE DAWN REMAKE LIKE FRUITS BASKET ANIME GODS!!!
7. Shall Fen Shall from Sugar Apple Fairytale
Rationale: Shall (or Challe depending on your source) is very much in alignment with my established type of tall, dark, handsome, sexy voice, witty and strong, reserved guy. It is the best combo, what can I say. Again we have the "I'd do anything to make you happy because it is the only thing that makes me happy" mindset (which is actually really unhealthy when you think about it... ehehe is this toxic femininity??) but ITS SO HOT. He is a beautiful fairy who is mature and has lived a long life. I do question his relationship with Anne though because boy what do you see in her? She is sweet and all but I can't shake the thought that if all humans saw fairies as equals, he would not even know she existed or care. Anyways, I'll take him off your hands, Anne! ;)
8. Tomoe from Kamisama Kiss
Rationale: Tomoe is again a cynical, tall, highly competent, and handsome guy. He also has the same selfless love for Nanami like he has lived for himself long enough so he can take care of her now. Wow........ it seems like the type is pretty cut and dry huh... ehehehehe anyways. My favorite thing about Tomoe is his face card. Look at these pictures, IT DOES NOT DECLINE. He has mastered the indignant but sultry look. I'm not a fan of the fox ears, silver hair, or traditional Japanese dress he has (which makes sense because I have no connection to Japanese traditional dress as an American...also, girl the mangaka did not make him that way for you). With all this being said, he left an imprint on my 13 year old brain and I feel like Tomoe walked so a lot of these guys could fly today.
9. Tsuruga Ren from Skip Beat!
Rationale: Ren is just that guy. He is a very kind person and, not to sound like a broken record, but he is also so good at everything he does, is tall/dark/handsome, and is powerful as a A-list actor. His dynamic with FL (I genuinely forgot her name oops) is so sweet how he pushes her to be better by not holding back on criticism when necessary, yet he clears the way and removes obstacles in her path whenever he can. ACK it's so cute it just hit me again. My feelings on the art style in this show are complicated. I am not super into the long faces, but Ren's beauty shines despite that... damnit maybe I should have put him a little higher on this list... He and Tomoe may be tied.
10. Shinji from Apothecary Diaries
Rationale: Shinji OMGGGGG. So for me, I prefer a slightly more masculine type looks-wise. However, Shinji definitely has his moments. It's not really his looks that make me like him either. He is another powerful man, which is obviously hot. His cluelessness about his own feelings is so cute. Normally I kind of start to hate slow burns after a while, but the way he and Maomao do it is so cute. I also think that his actions reflect his feelings for her, which is the most important part. I love Shinji the most when he is being childish and loses control (either by being jealous or by just being charmed by Maomao). Ahhhhhh, it's a balm for the soul.
11. Ferdinand from Ascendence of a Bookworm
Rationale: Okay so Ferdinand feeds another part of my type that I have not necessarily said so far, he is SMART. It kind of goes into the competency/good at what they do thing, but intelligence just hits different. He has a sexy voice, he is powerful, he is kind but definitely disillusioned. All good things. It gets complicated with Main though. Like I know she isn't really a kid and he knows that, but it just creeps me out. Not into that kind of stuff and I get really angry at the anime industry because they sure love to create these impossible scenarios in fiction that allow for an adult to fall in love with a child. It just feels like dog-whistling for pedos. *SIGH*... anyways, remember that these are just my opinions and I completely understand if people disagree with me.
12. Tsukasa Domyouji from Hana Yori Dango
Rationale: OKAY SO this one kind of defies logic for me. Domyouji is such an asshole throughout the show and does so many questionable things, but idk I think he actually pulls off being spoiled?? He is so so hot and powerful and I love his character development (which, ya know, he starts out the show in high school so of course he starts out immature and ignorant) and romance development (though it dragged out way too long, stressed me out, and pissed me off). I guess the bottom line is I don't really like how much I like him but the chemistry/magnetism toward him is there so oop guess if I was in FL's position I'd let him treat me like crap.
Rationale: Aqua is another complicated one because of the difference in his mental age versus physical age and also the incest stuff makes me cringe a lot. However, like all of these other guys, he has a sexy voice, is competent/good at what he does, is cynical, and is handsome. He also is kind and takes care of the people he loves. I also really like how deep his character is written. We really get a sense of who he is and his really crazy mental struggles. Yeahhhhh he's hot sorry.
14. Saiki Kusuo from Saiki K
Rationale: LOL this feels like a hear me out. I mean, come on, he's handsome. I like his disillusioned, deadpan, super powerful but doesn't care vibe. He is also such a god boy and kind soul. I find that very endearing about him. Yeah, I stand by this.
Honorable mentions who either required too much explaining/were complicated, or were too similar to others on the list/don't do it for me quite as much:
Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon (maybe just the idea of him)
Li Ren Fang from Hanasakeru Seishonen
Shinoubu Morita from Honey and Clover (mainly for his flirty charm and unpredictableness, reminds me of guys I was into back in my schoolgirl days irl)
Oodanna from Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits
Ryou Amakusa from Koikimo (I know, I know ugh I hate it too)
Koushun Ka from Raven of the Inner Palace (such a good show btw highly recommend)
Keiya Utou from A Girl & Her Guard Dog (again, I'm sorry I'm sorry but taking him out of the extremely problematic context of the show he is so hot)
Tsukasa Kazuki from Romantic Killer (but really I just want to protect him at all costs and for him to have happily ever after carefree)
Yutaka Hasebe from Servant x Service (like Shinobu, reminds me of guys who have broken my heart in the past so tough)
Youming Ye from Psychic Princess (would make the main list because he is so so fine but he kind of treated FL like shit and there are arguably some consent issues with this one... but he could get it from me personally)
Uramichi Omota from Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan (guess I'm a sucker for disillusioned depressed bois oop)
