If Gray found out what Administrator did to his father, he would be horrified. Even he, who has every right to hate Zepheniah, would find it too much.

The roots of Gray’s and Elizabeth’s hatred are the same: Zepheniah deprived them of their family. But the context is completely different.

We do not know how exactly Elizabeth lost her family, but we know that by infiltrating the Mann family, she was able to gain a lot. Gray’s father denied him even the chance to be part of his own family. In the first case, he was apparently indifferent. Most likely, it was a careless accident, but even if not, it was not aimed at Elizabeth herself. In the second case, in the case of his son, he was deliberately cold-blooded. And nothing allowed Gray to return to his family or receive any compensation from his relatives. So he decided to compensate for the damage himself, prolonging his life.

The main difference between them is that Elizabeth no longer remembers what she is taking revenge for, while Gray remembers the exact reason for his hatred and is therefore more adequate in his revenge.

His revenge looks like an ascent in spite of, it means getting out of the bottom, getting back everything that once belonged to the family, achieving his own well-being at any cost.
