Violence. Red painted everything he saw before it even started to gush from the perpetrator’s nose. Head met table because David couldn’t keep his cool. It happened more than he cared to admit; it was a chemical imbalance, they said, something that happened to him when he was young that upset the apple cart.

It took three full grown men to pull him off the criminal. He’d lost his composure, too, apparently. There had been no helping what happened in that interrogation room. He’d gone in hot, frustrated, and ready for a fight and it had only gotten worse. When they threw him outside the room one of the local police with a golden shield, a deputy, laughed at him. It was a crooked cocked smile and a booming laugh. “The fuck are you laughing at, Backwoods? I’m surprised to see you at your desk today. Don’t you have some donuts to stuff in that big mouth?”
