There is no such thing as a burden on society. Society was invented to provide for everyone so that everyone may not just survive but thrive. Evolution tells us this, anthropology tells us this, biology tells us this, religion tells us this. It's in the sales pitch for every political ideology (except fascism which requires a scapegoat, for fearmongering and misdirection). The Declaration of Independence highlighted this when it started off by stating that our inalienable rights include (but are not limited to!) life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If you believe the powerful when they tell you that the powerless are stealing your power, then you are giving it away. If someone is being called a burden on society
the person speaking is a bigot
the person(s) they're speaking of have been failed by society
This is a sideblog for @paulgadzikowski, FAQ for which here.
Because these blogs were created after the implementation of the 2023 Tumblr text editor which operates in some ways very differently than the text editor I used for ten years at @heroofthreefaces (in the manner described on the FAQ for my main blog), posts and reblogs intended for my main often get posted here accidentally. These when discovered are tagged wrong blog, and are then reblogged to my main where they are also tagged wrong blog; or, if they're very freshly reblogged, they're just deleted and the post is re-reblogged over there.
EDIT From the notes on this post: My "fake felon" tag is an evolution starting from the tag I used 2017-2021 which was "fake president". After that for awhile I used "former fake president". Then when the run-up to the 2024 election started picking up steam, what with the man began making known his intent to seize totalitarian power on reelection and what with Project 2025, I switched to "fake tyrant"; and then with the conviction in New York to "fake felon". Though it is a misnomer because he wouldn't be a fake tyrant at all and is hardly a fake felon. I suppose there may be people who think I mean it that way but I don't think I'll change it
EDIT After the trial in New York and the 2024 GOP convention I changed it to "sleepy don"
EDIT After the debate with Harris I decided using a nickname is kicking a man when he's down and now I'll just use "donald trump" even though I originally started using a nickname tag because I wanted his name on my blogs as little as possible
EDIT After the (second) inauguration I'm switching to "felon president" because, whatever his mental state, I haven't the faintest doubt that he knows damn well everything he's doing is with spite and malice; and "felon president", being nothing but factually accurate, is the least of the epithets he deserves for that
EDIT Switching to "fascist president" because ... you know what, none of these really warranted any explanation in this space
