26, live in the PNW, just trying to share some good music to those willing to listent :)Ā This is just a little page where I dump the mixtapes I make for my friends. Leave some songs you think I may like!
So I went to Vancouver this past weekend. It was kind of aĀ ātreat your selfā mini vacation, just so I could get out of my Seattle routines for a while. It was also definitely in my feels because the last time I was there was on a weekend getaway with my ex. Donāt worry, thereās a bit of that explained in the song reviews lol. I got to explore a little, walk around the city, see a beautiful sunset, I even met a beautiful boy to enjoy some of the time with. These are some of the songs that stuck out (**hereās the link**):
1. Closure - Vancouver Sleep Clinic
2. Barely Friends - DRAMA
3. Hallucinogenics (Vallis Alps Remix) - Matt Maeson
When I say this song sent meĀ directly into my feels, but head bobbing all the way š« it'd be a understatement. I've always loved Vancouver sleep clinic, but damn. This song crossed all the genres I loved with the added benefit of a good baseline. It reminded me of a past relationship of mine that ended too fast. I held on even after it ended thinking things could change, and of course, because we can't control others feelings, it didn't. But it was definitely a valuable lesson and I grew a lot from it.
2. Barely Friends - Drama
It's funny how life always gets in the way of how we love. It doesn't matter what kind of relationship (friendships, lovers, spouses, family), life always happens, like a storm out of nowhere and our love just doesnāt translate the way it used to. This song makes me remember those people in my life who Iāve grown apart from but still love. It also reminds me to be conscious of how my relationships are changing.Ā
3. Hallucinogenics (Vallis Alps Remix) - Matt Maeson
This song beat hypnotic, and Matt Maesonās voice was the catalyst I needed to fall in love. It takes me back to my toxic relationship with weed lol weird as that is. I used it smoke a lot, and it was only to drown out the feelings that I was trying to get over (another break up of course haha). But the songs definitely a vibe and will definitely get stuck in your head.Ā
4. Warm - Dreāes
Warm makes me feel that, just warm and fuzzy. Itās a very positive and hopeful vibe, the wavelength I've been riding for the past couple days. Itās smooth, sweet, and a good song to smile too as your walking through the city. Definitely one of my favorites from this mixtape.Ā
5. Dylm - Hennes, DEAN, Voppa
This right here. THIS RIGHT HERE!! This is my Iām ready to dance and let loose song! I heard it on the drive up and instantly wanted to be on a dance floor letting loose and feeling myself. The artist is really new too, so go show your support. Iād say the mood for this isĀ āI had a bad week and Iām ready to let loose on the dance floor for a couple hours.ā
This song is giving me āsummer rooftop partyā vibes. Itās giving meĀ āI aint a vsco girl but a bitch might get a tie-dye shirt, a scrunchy, iced coffee and live a littleā vibes. Itās giving meĀ āI usually like hip hop but this electro shit has me boppingā vibes. Definitely not my usual, but canāt help to jam out to this for a hot minute, or 5 haha. Itās cute donāt @ me.Ā
7. Nothing But You - Devault, Donnie Sloan
This songs another one of my faveās, as is the artist Devault. This is more theĀ ālet loose at homeā orĀ āballad in the showerā vibes. This shit has versatility. haha no but really, I love the flow. Itās cool and original, the beat is sick, andĀ the lyrics are cute, not gonna lie. this definitely wasnāt a song from this weekend though. This played on my Spotify radio as I was landing in Paris for my month long vacation earlier this summer. For me it feels like the start of something great.Ā
8. Iām a Rock - Jitwan
If youāre looking for that r&b funk sound to rock too, look no further, cause Jitwanās come through with that fire and flames. Heās a new artist that popped up on my radar and when I first heard him, it was love at first listen. The beatās new but old at the same time. Very Toro y Moi esque. Such a seductive vibe got my hips shaken and knees quaken (corny I know but Iām rolling with it.Ā
9. Nevada - River Tiber
You canāt help but sing along to this, or at least I canāt. I reminds me of how I always get caught off guard when I start liking someone. I let my mind drift and Iām already imagining our fictional relationship. Getting lost in the idea of love blossoming from a very real spark that I may have felt. This song pays hommage to how I always sweep myself off my own feet into the sunset. It reminds me that itās okay in moderation. Get lost a little in the love, just make sure you come back to reality.Ā
10. Always Afternoon - Medasin, Kathleen
So my favorite time at home is Golden hour, and whenever I get to the stage of bringing someone I like to my house, itās always around that time. For me the afternoon glow is a beautiful moment and I love sharing it. It sometimes feels like a dream too, and I wish it could last forever. That what this song reminds me off :) Golden hour in wonderful company and a good closing to this weeks playlist.Ā
Thanks for reading if you got this far. If you liked, drop me a note and if you have any music you want me to listen to, send me an ask. (Also I highly recommend listening to the recommended songs following the playlist, theyāre usually fire)
Iām starting this as a kind of therapy for me, but also because I love music and love sharing it. Musicās definitely been a key part of my life in my 20ā²s. I have a song picked out for every moment of happiness, sadness, love, hope and heartbreak. Sometimes music is there to remind me of the good times, and sometimes itās there to remind me that Iāve grown and overcame the bad times.Ā
Iām not saying I have the best taste, but I will definitely say that all the songs I love make me feel something, at times where I need that reminder, or little piece of happiness to keep me going. Hopefully if you listen to my mixtapes youāll feel a little of the happiness it gives me too. :)
Iāll start with 10 songs a week and work my way up from there. Happy Listening!!
