every day i think about the fact that i was emotionally devastated by the storyline of a man who was so repressed that he spent most of his life sleeping carelessly with women and never knowing what love felt like only to find the meaning of love in a relationship with his nemesis which he’d started just to break his heart but ended up falling for him instead only for said nemesis to disappear from his life after they had sex and leave him more alone and confused and desperate to prove his heterosexuality than ever and then when they FINALLY reunited after he’d been pining for him for what felt like forever he witnessed what he thought was the death of his lover and thought it was all his fault and not only that but he was charged with disposing of his body to get rid of the evidence of his murder only to learn later on that his lover was actually NOT dead and had only faked his death and was willing to start a relationship with him for real while also still maintaining that he’s kinda straight. and that show was arrested development. and these men were will arnett and ben stiller.

Patterns: I definitely favor a short opening sentence, sometimes with dialogue, usually with character+action or reaction. Surprisingly few commas, considering. Out of these, my favorite opening is definitely "It had been a bad day." short, sweet, and clear.

joe gets into this habit where whenever he hears a song about everlasting love or loving someone forever he jokingly goes, “nicky that’s our song!” and of course nicky always just smiles indulgently while joe playfully swoons at him
