okay so i watched the movie again and actually paid some attention to the triplets this time around

>> when mako and raleigh fight, they’re in the background! >> when she tells him that it’s not the candidates’ performance she has a problem with, it’s his, THEY FUCKING HIGH FIVE EACH OTHER. I LOVE THESE ASSHOLES. >> (also when everyone else was clapping when raleigh won the first few rounds, they just stood there haha oh man they’re totally bros with mako I SWEAR TO GOD) >> the 貴 & 命 on crimson means they probs have some regard for the sanctity of life so probs buddhist in that vague detached kinda way a lot of chinese people are but they also have a kill tally so??? >> they run into raleigh after pentecost schools him and I PAID ATTENTION THIS TIME and the line is actually 不懂事 (bu4 dong3 shi4) which makes a lot more sense to me now. >> HAHA it basically means “he doesn’t understand/he has no sense” or “he doesn’t know shit/he has no class” presumably because he was insubordinate to pentecost and they totally heard about that shit from the staff working around there at the time AND BEING INSUBORDINATE TO PENTECOST IS A STUPID ASS THING TO DO >> it’s a very patronizing and condescending thing to say, is the implication? like 不懂事 is something you’d say about a kid who does something incredibly rude because they didn’t know better or someone from a backwater place who has no idea how to function politely in the city (it can get a bit classist tbh) >> thundercloud formation is literally THUNDERCLOUD [whatever formation is in chinese] and their mando isn’t actually that bad, just hard to hear over everything going to shit
