I will sound a little autistic, but It's hella funny how I immediately fished by this game when in my first gameplay! This has never happened to me, with any visual novel I've ever played.
When I was looking for Yandere novels on itch.io and saw this one, I thought; "Brooo this one looks SOO BAD LOOK AT THIS ARTSTYLE, IT MUST BE SOME SLOP!!!!!"
And when I finally played and finished the entire game, I felt like this;
I really should stop judging games by their cover or art style, which is ironic because after playing it, I REALLY LOVED THE ART.
ALL the characters have this big bug eyes... And i LOVEEE bugs. The colors are good, the game design is good, nothing really bothers my eyes!
Alright, alright... The fun part-
Basically, you're a loser who decided to work for a super shady guy. I mean... The work looks good and all, BUT WOULD YOU TRUST THIS GUY??
Anyway, there is some horrible smell in the company + people are getting sick and leaving all the problems to you. Oh well! You end up trying to quit your job and find out that your boss is a demon all the time (YAYYYYY!!!!!)
I REALLY like how the story works, it's like a puzzle... How much you do routes, but you get answers. I love a good puzzle, so I spent hours deciphering the story.
The story isn't the most complex thing, but it's certainly fun and charismatic... Especially with the presence of demons, which you discover are several out there and Rot is just one of them.
In A Demon's Delight, this concept is explored more, but this feedback is not about this game lol
The story connects very well at certain points but I like how some things need to be read between the lines, like Baki and Hegan's past! The characters are well-developed and aren't just stereotypes as I initially thought; they all have reasons for acting the way they do, even if it doesn't justify their actions. The game doesn't try to excuse the characters' actions; in fact, other characters may react with disgust.
Like, Hegan enjoys cannibalism, and other characters are disgusted by it or simply don't like him. THATS REALLY NICE TO SEE cuz the story knows the character is fucked up and is not trying to hide it.
And speaking of characters...
From my favorite to my least favorite...
He's Hegan's cousin, and he's a former mobster who became a priest... I've never seen a character concept like that, and honestly, I found it extremely interesting!
I like how Baki doesn't just want to hurt you for his sadism or amusement; he only tries to kill you because it's his way of "sparing" you from your illness.
I like his sense of justice, only killing demons and cultists; not innocents. Honestly, I hope he didn't die on the route where you literally shoot him 🥹🥹🥹
The only thing I DON'T like is that most of his endings aren't really his, but rather those of other characters. Sure, they're from his route, but I don't like that only two endings are truly his, and in both of them, U FUCKING DIE 😭😭😭😭

I like how he's not necessarily in love with you or anything like that; from what I've seen in the game and in his past, he doesn't want to disappoint his father (the former owner of the company). So, from what I understand; People quitting = failing dad!!! on his mind.
Sure, he seems to feel a bit of attraction towards the MC, but he's not necessarily in love. I like that! And honestly, in a real-world context, I would choose to stay with that guy's company. I mean, I WOULD DIE, SURE... But he's charismatic, I'd feel bad leaving.
He makes you doubt whether he really likes you; In a route, when you lie about you being "sick," he immediately shows up at your house and on another route, even trying to take you on a date to make you stay. On the other hand, he doesn't seem to have any problem discarding you either, which I think is great! NOT IN THE "I WANT TO BE DISCARDED" WAY BUT... The way he doesn't fall into just one stereotype of 'Oohh please stay!'
I LOVE his design when he's in his demon form. He's a kind of moth, and as mentioned before, I love insects. I also like his normal design!! His monochromatic palette gives the "souless office boss" to him, which I assume is his design intuition.
This diva as such a prettey hair too.
I only have one question; When he eats, does the food rot inside him or...??? 😅

Okay, maybe I don't like his route and how you're forced into a smut with him but like... It was in his warnings... I just didn't think it would be so grotesque- But I can't complain about it, it was warned O_O
BUT his route is truly terrifying, it got to me good! I'm a pretty paranoid person, so the scenario of being kidnapped by a cannibal and having to escape the building while naked and with a hurted leg is really frightening to me. GOOD HORROR!!!
I find it funny that I tried to hate him as much as possible; I was so happy to finally kill him........ AND THEN I GOT THE LOVE ENDING. 🥹🥹 WDYM THIS MAN WOULD LIKE ME BC I HATE HIM TO GUTS????

Despite myself, I won't lie, Baki really was a jerk to him in the past. Even though I don't like Hegan, he has his reasons... I still hate him tho 🥰🥰

Please Don't Quit is a good, simple visual novel game that has its charm. I recommend it to people who like more sensitive and dark themes, since the game really plays with that. Please don't play if you are sensitive!
Solid 9/10! I don't like how much information is omitted from the game and you have to go looking for it in other games. But I imagine that won't be a problem anymore once we've had the finalization of A Demon's Delight.
@noctis-horrow, please keep with the good work! I see you're in a tough spot, but don't give up! I believe your projects have great potential!
