Magik's real name in Illyana Rasputin, and she is the little sister of Pytor Rasputin aka the X-Man Colossus. She was originally about six years old when Pytor was eighteen and got drafted into the New X-Men. After Pytor left, Illyana unlocked her own mutant power: the power to open portals to a Limbo dimension. She accidentally got trapped in Limbo -where time works differently - and learned spellcasting, got a mystical armor for her left arm, and earned the Soulsword; a magic sword forged from her literal soul that allows her to fight supernatural threats. She eventually made it back to Earth - now aged up ten years - reunited with her brother and joined the New Mutants, and eventually the X-Men.
