What are we learning from the past ?

There is a popular adage in our society that goes something like this: 

“Forget the past, don’t worry about the future, live in the present.”

There is truth to this statement. Far too many of us live defined by the choices we made in the past. This shouldn’t be the case. After all, each new day presents opportunity to become a new person on a new road destined for a new future. But those who choose to simply forget the past miss out on its fullest potential; There are valuable lessons to be learned from it. 

Those who choose to ask the right questions about their past are most prepared to live life to the fullest in the present.

Will we be ready for the next #bigvirus ?

Well, the last few weeks have been an adventure...from going "Up N Air" with Coastal Baloons, bicycle art tours with @ecocycling and nutruing the young ones in the garden it's been a wonderful time of growth!

As a matter of fact this is one of my most encouraging seasons, spring time. The flowers come out (and the weeds too) the weather warms up and everyone is filled with excitement with what lays ahead. Here is to traveling the path of freedom, knowing every day is a gift not to be taken lightly but rather embraced with joy and care because there is a day coming that the flowers will fade away and the cold will return yet a hope of an even brighter and more beautiful future exists; a "New Creation".

So get outside and experience this new day!

From an early morning spot in the audience of the Hampton Roads Show, to a lunchtime tour of Portsmouth City Hall (Bruce, Carl, and everyone in between) with #communitystreet to share the news about #BikeMonth followed by a little #coffeesails talk in Olde Town. May 1st has been a great day and although taking the long 2 hour trek to Hampton on the HRT 961 max bus was a little grueling after it broke down on the northside of the MM Tunnel it was well worth getting to ride with some Peninsula Bicycle Association friends!

To top it all off I ran into an old co-worker and friend from ECB and ended up hanging around the Hampton waterfront reminiscing and telling stories of lifes’ travails while staying hopeful for the road ahead. Here is to next time!

It was a great start to Bike Month 2018 and im looking forward to enjoying each day as it unfolds…Here is to #movingforward in life on 2 wheels!

This week has been something to write home about! From pulling together another #earthday #bikeathon on the Norfolk VA Bike Loop to saying goodbye to the Waterside Dirstrict Marina for the summer season today makes a great ending to my action filled week! I am thankful for old and new friends who I have the privilege to walk beside and all the spontaneous intersections in life when my path crosses with them. The time has flown by the last week! From working in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on a rebuilding project to just arriving in Haiti to water and cultivate the garden at #haiticommunitere soaking in each moment while making new friends along the way is what life is all about! #restore #rebuild #renewal

It's already been an interesting start to my adventure from bumping into a friend at the @downtownnorfolk greyhound station to doing my best to hunt down a hot coffee before 4am "im loving it" and sharing a good word with a local bicycle paper man @unionstation ...I am now heading to BWI next stop #puertorico

The winter cold has struck with overnight temperatures in the 20's it's the dawning of a new season that will test not only the frailty of our flesh but the steadfastness our our minds. Remember to double up your socks and invest in some wool so just as the sheep we too are prepared for the harshness of the weather. Remember/Prayers- homless, thoes "without" and the least of these. To sow a thought is to reap an action To sow an action is to reap a habit To sow a habit is to reap a character To sow our character yields our destiny! From right relationships to duty; It requires the heart of a good man to see his portion in the promise of a hopeful future. Yet how often does one find them-self fall short of this duty (not unto myself but unto others). The duty of encouragement, motivation and in inspiring others even myself at times to our fullest potential.  It’s with constancy and perseverance one performs this Duty, in all instances, in the duty of every day, in a constant course of just walking, and this to the end, without weariness. This is following The Way fully. That we may not stray from our most Nobel path in life to serve on another in Love, Peace and a Joyful spirit.
