Theodore was trying his hardest to keep his excitement to a low knowing that Rhea was easily spooked, but it was hard. He was going to be a dad. In a few short months there was going to be a baby in their arms that they had made together. “I may have made a mistake.... or ten,” He admitted carrying in an armful of bags.

“I’m feeling a lot of things right now, it’s a little hard to tell them all apart.” Rhea admitted, wrapping an arm across her stomach. It was too early to be showing, but she couldn’t help it. “Actually, I don’t know that I want to yet. The minute I ask for advice it’s all we’ll be getting, and I like the idea of being able to have it be just ours for a little bit.”

“I’m more than happy to enjoy this pregnancy for as long as we can just the two of us, but if we avoid our moms for too long they’ll know something is wrong,” Theo reminded his wife as he moved to lay on the couch with his head in her lap staring as her stomach as he smiled, “But for a day or two it can be just the three of us.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Rhea rolled her eyes with a weak smile. “No, I’m alright actually. I’m not feeling sick or anything. I went to my sister’s yesterday because I was admittedly pretty freaked and couldn’t stop spiraling, but I feel better. Knowing it’s official made me feel more peaceful and I’m actually happy about it.” She admitted with a shrug. “Okay, I’m sitll a little freaked out but it’s the good sort, I think.”

“I’m just happy that you’re actually happy about it,” He was always afraid of what would happen the day that it happened. He always figured he would be the one over the moon, meanwhile she would only be happy for him. “We can freak out together, and then go to Cassie and Leia and beg for information.”

“We can be best friends and I can still tease you mercilessly, Theo. I’m evolved that way.” Athena laughed. “Of course I do, but that wasn’t a bad idea. Mom’s always loved Rhea and to be honest, it was nice having her here when we lost dad and everything. Plus you’ve been together pretty much my entire life, so I can’t exactly pretend I don’t love her at this point.”

“You mean you’re just like your dad in that way,” Theo reminded her in amusement as he rolled his eyes playfully at her. “Listen you and your mom’s opinions were always the important ones to me. I got so lucky with Rhea...it must suck not knowing your soul mate from birth.”

“I know, that hearing voices thing is weird.” Rhea joked, but it fell flat. For once her heart wasn’t in it and her mind was far off and somewhere else entirely. “I went to the doctor a few days ago. I missed my period last month, which you know…hasn’t happened since I started getting it,” she sighed. No secrets for twenty years and there was no reason to start now. “They called back yesterday, I’m not dying or anything. But our miracle birth control has finally failed, and now we’re having a baby.”

“Oh no I was more thinking your food choices are the weirdest thing about you,” He admitted trying to cheer her up for the moment as he settled down beside her before her words actually hit him. He knew that they always said they didn’t want children but he knew that if it happened he would love their child. He couldn’t help the smile that he was fighting as he looked at his wife. He knew that he shouldn’t be as excited as he was but he was trying to hold it back knowing that she might not feel the same way he did. “How are you feeling about it? Or in general? Do I need to go get you anything, babe.”

They had been best friends long before they got married, which usually was a good thing. It meant there were never any secrets between them and Rhea loved that more than nearly anything, but right now it was difficult. She still couldn’t wrap her mind around it, really. She smiled when she saw him, taking the breakfast and resting it in her lap. “I love you. Even when I’m acting like a freak.”

Secrets weren’t a thing they had between each other which was why he knew something huge was going on, but he didn’t want to pressure her. He knew when the time came she would tell him what was going on. All he could do was show her that he was still there for her not going anywhere. “Rhea, you’re a freak every single day it’s what I love the most about you. It matches my freak. I just figure there’s something brewing in that gorgeous head of yours and a reminder that I love you and I’m here never goes terribly. Whenever you want to talk I’m here.”

The news had been swarming in her mind for hours. Ever since she had gotten confirmation it was really happening. It was really only a matter of time and they’d gotten lucky it hadn’t for so many years but now it was, and she didn’t know how to react. Rhea had been sitting still for what felt like that entire time, clicking her nails together, thoughts going a hundred miles an hour in a circle.

Theo knew his wife well enough to know when something was wrong with her. He could read her so easily that she rarely even needed to open her mouth. It’s why he had went out that morning to make sure he had her favorite breakfast and coffee in his hands when he walked through the door knowing she would be awake by the time he returned. “I got your favorites,” He assured her as he leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead before handing over her breakfast.

“I guess I can’t blame him, I mean, it isn’t like either of you have ever been anything short of dramatic. And if the world was going to end, it’d probably involve a Hale or a McCall.”

“Me? Dramatic?” Theodore asked his sister, “I thought we were best friends, little one. And you’re out here hurting me. Although you do have a point about the world possibly ending by at least one of us. After all me and Rhea thought it was a good idea for mesh both families together.”

“I haven’t, but I can imagine. Was it really bad?”

“It wasn’t bad so much as he was trying to understand how we haven’t destroyed the universe yet.”

rheamccall‌:

“I feel like we need one soon. Or at least I do, but because of that whole ‘until death do us part’ thing you’re pretty much locked and loaded into that too.”

“Besides I’d never let you take one without me unless it’s with your parents or something but I doubt they’d make you leave me at home.”

“Trust me, I’m well aware you have a wife.” Serena promised, raising an eyebrow in amusement as she shrugged. “I should, and I have been. Athena and the rest of the family has been stealing him for time too, though, so I’ve had to share.>”

“I’m just saying Rhea counts as a life outside of just you. We just tend to only stick to the people we love and feel comfortable around. You know if you told him you needed more time he’d figure it out for you.”

“I’m your mother, in no world do I see it as being stuck with you.” Serena rolled her eyes, but the small smile was still existent. “Of course I don’t mind. But as your mom it’s my job to make sure you have a life outside of me no matter how much I complain about it.”

“I do have a life without you, mama,” Theo assured her as he rolled his eyes, “I do have a wife after all. Although shouldn’t you be spending some time with dad?”

“Absolutely never. It was both a blessing and a curse when you were a kid.” Serena admitted in amusement. “Trust me, I love it too. I always figured you’d eventually grow out of it like the others did.”

“I’m pretty sure at this point you’re just stuck with me though, mom. I mean if you want me to pull away some I can, but I figured you never minded having me at least a little clingy.”

“Where’s a vacation when you need one,” Rhea sighed.

“What did he do when he found out you and Rhea got married?”

“Have you ever seen someone look like their brain was exploding but it never actually does? Because that was exactly it.”

“That makes two of us. You know, he actually said he wants me in a nunnery the other day.”

“I’m surprised he didn’t ship you off by the time you turned five. But he tried to send me to a monastery as well.”

“Trust me, I have accepted that. I still don’t know that I believe nobody’s going to put me in a giant bubble.”

“Honestly with pops back I’m surprised you aren’t in a bubble.”
