Stephen King wrote a fictional interview with 6 Donald Trump voters for The Guardian.

I decided to convene six Trump voters to discover how and why all this happened. Because I selected them from the scores of make-believe people always bouncing around in my head (sometimes their chatter is enough to drive me bugshit), I felt perfectly OK feeding them powerful truth serum before officially convening the round table. And because they are fictional – my creatures – they all agreed to this. They gulped the serum down in Snapple iced tea, and half an hour later we began.

New Castle Rock Novella by King and Chizmar

King and Richard Chizmar have announced publication of a new novella:

Gwendy's Button Box

The little town of Castle Rock, Maine has witnessed some strange events and unusual visitors over the years, but there is one story that has never been told... until now. There are three ways up to Castle View from the town of Castle Rock: Route 117, Pleasant Road, and the Suicide Stairs. Every day in the summer of 1974 twelve-year-old Gwendy Peterson has taken the stairs, which are held by strong (if time-rusted) iron bolts and zig-zag up the cliffside. At the top of the stairs, Gwendy catches her breath and listens to the shouts of the kids on the playground. From a bit farther away comes the chink of an aluminum bat hitting a baseball as the Senior League kids practice for the Labor Day charity game. One day, a stranger calls to Gwendy: "Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me." On a bench in the shade sits a man in black jeans, a black coat like for a suit, and a white shirt unbuttoned at the top. On his head is a small neat black hat. The time will come when Gwendy has nightmares about that hat...

There are signed and un-signed ($25) editions (signed by Chizmar) available for pre-order.  There is also an edition with a slipcase ($49).  I've seen rumors of an edition by Lonely Road Books signed by King as well, but there's no info about that yet.

King and JJ Abrams "Castle Rock"

Very mysterious video post by JJ Abrams and Stephen King tonight.  There are no details except it will air on Hulu.  Seems likely it will be a series rather than a movie, but there are no details.

On the Charleston stop on the End of Watch tour King mentioned how he and his son Owen have collaborated on a book set in a women’s prison in West Virginia. A first draft of that work has been finished which means we probably won’t see it until the fall of 2017 at the earliest. No info on what kind of book it is but the title will be Sleeping Beauties.

Jackie Earle Haley Cast as Sayre in The Dark Tower Movie

Oscar-nominated actor Jackie Earle Haley is set for a key villainous regular role opposite Peter Serafinowicz in the Amazon pilot The Tick, a new take on Ben Edlund‘s comic book character with an all-new cast. Additionally, he is in negotiations for a co-starring role opposite Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in The Dark Tower.

The Dark Tower, co-written and directed by Nikolej Arcel, is based on the Stephen King novels, with Akiva Goldman, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins producing. Haley will play Sayre, a menacing humanoid who is the vampire leader and kowtows to no one.

The Mist TV Series at Spike TV

From Variety:

Spike TV has greenlit “The Mist,” ordering 10 hourlong episodes of the series based on Stephen King’s classic horror novella, Variety has learned.

The series goes into production this summer, and is slated for a 2017 debut.

The Viacom-owned cabler ordered a pilot for “The Mist” this February, though after hearing the pitch for the full series, upped the order to series, before producing the pilot.

TWC-Dimension Television will produce the series, which tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc. Christian Torpe, who is repped by ICM, will serve as exec producer.

The Dark Tower Begins Production
