When I was younger everyone cared about Talk Like a Pirate Day. Every September 19th it'd be yars and shivers me timber all the way down, and people took delight in it. Now nobody ever talks like a pirate, on that day or any other. So few of us cling to the old ways. This is where our society went wrong. I was curious to see why this 1981 home in Dana Pt., CA is so expensive. It has 4bds, 4ba, 4,406sqft, $6.995m. It started out as a cottage, but has been added onto over the years, in classic Spanish Revival architecture.

Look at the main sitting room, 2 stories tall. I like the windows. There's a lot of stuff in here, though, they really went all-out maximalist.

Nice shelving and chandelier in the dining room, but the table is too small, b/c they have so much other stuff. Doors open to the patio.

I didn't expect such a small kitchen in a $7m home. It'll probably look larger w/o all the dishes.

The beautiful pantry is as large as the kitchen. Love the counters and lighted cabinet.

1st fl. shower room. Look at the window curtains in the shower.

This must be one of the later additions. You step down 1 1/2 stairs to go up to the 2nd level.

Fancy ceiling up here.

Leaded glass windows and built-in shelving.

A 2-room bath. I like the sink.

The primary bedroom done in toile wallpaper has a sitting area and a rooftop deck.

This is very nice.

Then, confusingly, this supposed single family home has a whole 'nother home. Look at the larger kitchen. I actually like the smaller, "cottagey" better.

It has a formal dining room with a deco looking fireplace and a large skylight. Love the way the chandelier fits into the skylight.

Plus another living room. I'm confused.

Another primary bedroom suite.

Wow, look at the giant statuary. Do they convey? I think not.

Nice shower room- they made the most out of small 3pc. This can't be all for guests.

Pool surrounded by gardens.

Patio and sheltered little sitting area next to it.

The grounds are special, full of landscaping and container gardens. This looks like it could be used as a bar, food buffet, or potting table.

Oh, and this looks like an aviary.

Lots of paths to stroll. Here's a Zen fountain.

Lovely gardener statue by the pool.

Open to reveal the fountain. It looks like there's so much house and garden for a 0.5 acre property.
