🌌Nebula (???) - It/its or they/them if you insist Weird celestial dragon. Really not into talking unless it has to. Kinda throws a fit when it gets stuck in the front. They don't care for much.

🐉Discord (Fict) - He/him by default but does not care Draconequus. Old as shit. Chaotic, often abrasive or deliberately annoying, but not completely incapable of being nice when it really counts.

🔪Nny (Fict) - He/him Human. Adult. Johnny C. but prefers the nickname Nny in most situations. Gray-aro/ace. More than a little feral.

🔬Sherlock (Fict? Maybe?) - He/him Human. Adult, 30s. Gray-aro/ace. May just be the host, might be separate, we literally don't know right now and it's very stressful. A bit rude. Analytical/observant.

This is my first Othercon since the Sherlock identity cataclysm happened.

And it feels nice to just... let the Sherlock stuff come out and have no one think twice about it. I can use the name. I can reference my identity. And no one thinks I'm a nuisance or annoyance for just being.

I'm just me. And it's allowed.

I'm having a rough go of it right now.

It remains unclear if I am having kin feelings, plural feelings, or some secret third thing, or some unholy combination of any of them, about Sherlock Holmes.

On one hand I frequently feel like I am him.

On the other hand I frequently feel like he's a separate guy in my head.

I don't get the same feeling that I get with my other system mates when we co-front or get blurry.

I'm also coming into my chosen irl identity as Lancaster (A self-improvement project that doubles as an OC) which involves weird romantic feelings directed at Sherlock Holmes.

I am unsure how to deal with this.

I do not like not knowing.

And I do not care for the friction that these things introduce to each other.

God help me it's a mess in here.

It's weird identifying as one version of a character but not others.

I'm BBC's Sherlock. But I am not ACD's original Sherlock. Or RDJ Sherlock. Or House (though our system has a House in it, please don't ask me how we handle that because I don't know either).

That said I still feel similarly affirmed or comforted by the media surrounding those other adaptations.

There's a connection, it's just... Looser. You know what I mean?

I've just lost my therapist. Medical crisis happened and they had to close their practice.

I worked so fucking hard to find one that understood the complex, tangled ball of yarn that is my sense of identity and now I'm just...

I really don't want to go through this all over again. Trying to explain myself to a new person who's probably going to pathologize it is... less than ideal.

I feel like a lot of alterhumans would find kink to be a great expression of their 'types, if people stopped being weird about sexuality and kink. Kink/BDSM is always an 18+ activity due to the nature of power dynamics, but sex is not required.

Want to be treated like an animal? Literally any animal, mythical creature, or otherwise? Petplay has your back. Petplay encompases anything that would be "animal roleplay." Want to be treated like a horse? Ponyplay (one of the oldest forms of petplay with a long history). Or want to be a prized show dog? Puppyplay. A beautiful bird treated as a treasure and pampered with the finest treats, or a falconry hawk? A zoo animal being taught tricks for an animal-show? Want to be a dragon who is doted on and given offerings so you don't burn down the nearby village? Yup, all petplay. You can make your petplay dynamic be anything you want.

Objectkin? There is a whole kink specifically about being treated as an object. And the Dom in the dynamic will just treat you like a literal object. You can be a table, or a rug, or a lamp, or anything. You can be your beautiful object-self and have others see you that way as well.

Are you a wolf? Big cat? Werecreature? Paleotherian? Anything with a prey drive or a desire to chase? Primal play can fill that niche. Pursuit, takedown, capture. Stalk and hunt your prey, show off your skills as an apex predator. - Alternatively, the preds need prey to chase. If you're a rabbit, a deer, coyote being chased by a LGD, show how good you are at avoiding getting caught. Show how you fight back and escape.

Fictionfolk? Archetrope? Most-any-kintype? Roleplay might be for you. This doesn't even need to involve kink dynamics, you can just roleplay or LARP for fun. Dress up and behave like a knight or prince. Embody your fictomere, maybe do cosplay. Dress up like a faery and hold a feast for your friends/court. Roleplay has endless possibilities, both sfw and sexy.

The kink/BDSM community is a space that is familiar with the odd and unordinary. Identification outside of humanity is not abnormal. Lifestyles, dynamics, and different ways of self expression are normal. Having a sense of Self that is deeply intertwined with the socially-queer is commonplace. I'm a firm believer that there is a lot of overlap between alterhuman experiences, and kink experiences/dynamics. There are a lot more similarities then people realize, and considering kink/BDSM as an avenue of self expression can be a very rewarding experience.

Howdy, all. I'm unfortunately going to be getting abdominal surgery soon and it's gonna be a little rough. I'm sharing my ko-fi to hopefully get a tiny bit of help with copays, recovery items etc. I am also unsure how much work I'll be missing yet, so I don't know how much my PTO will cover. I really wish people didn't assume that fictionkin are going to be cool with people cracking jokes about sensitive shit from our canons when they interact with us knowing we're fictionkin.

Some of us have a different relationship to that stuff, and I love that for those 'kin, but as a default, please. Don't assume they're cool with it. We're not all cool with it.
