In the living room I had pink bulbs so it was really cozy at night.
"In the living room I had pink light bulbs so it was really cozy at night."
Was sitting here at my kitchen table with my 4 year old son pooping in the near by bathroom and my 90 year old mother who kinda lives in my garage was sitting across the table from me while I was thinking about what I do in life. She blurted out something about her living room and pink light bulbs so there we go.
Progress = happiness. The art of moving forward, no matter how slowly or minute, creates a flow to happiness. Small little steps forward lean into medium steps, and medium steps big ones then it's all flowing. Because flowing is what it's all about anyway. Flow forward, forward things happen. Don't set a course and you're drifting around and bumping into everything and next thing you know you're stuck in the mud and way off course.
You HAVE to create progress forward.
Setting goals is one thing. Setting the correct goals is the important thing. Here, look: You want to do an Ironman. There's your goal. But that's too vague of a goal. It's not narrow enough. Needs to be "Do an Ironman in 2017" Right? Now "Do and Ironman in 2017 in 14 hours" And refine, again "Do an Ironman in 2017 in 14 hours by training 10 hours a week". Now you not only have a goal, you have a time and you have an ACTIONABLE step in doing so. Training 10 hours a week. Next step, what does that training look like in 10 hours a week. And so it goes. Small little steps leading to the bigger stuff.
Addition and subtraction lead to multiplying and dividing which leads to algebra and pre calc and next thing you know you're Matt fucking Damon at MIT.
Why does Cormic McCarthy get to write with all lower case letters but no one else does? Kinda pisses me off.
