a tomshiv nuclear situation before the wedding between alex and lily. lily broaches the topic of opening the relationship, and alex, who is blissedly unaware of her internal emotional struggles, is just devastated. so she blurts out george, and alex lays down the truth, that george and he just fooled around before he met her in 2019, it was nothing, he swears. but lily won't have it and will get george's side of the story, which checks out! except she then comes to a new conclusion: her alex just led george on. all this time, george loved him, and alex did not see it, and he brought him to meet her in that day 2019 to watch his own heart be broken, and he acted like it didn't matter. (her pov ofc obvs the alex pov is like. he never even THOUGHT it could be serious... george never said anything... but men are stupid and lily obvs can see how MUCH george is dying) so its kinda too late to cancel the wedding. i know ppl think alex dgaf abt PR but he does, and lily equally so, and it's actually going to be so scandalous to cancel so they go through with it. and they're both like just Ready to put it behind them.
and then like, the Narrative of george would just come haunt them where they go. to their honeymoon. to their house in chengdu and phuket and cayman islands. when lily rides alex and sees the scar george put on alex's collarbone. they're genuinely Unhappy man like alex is blaming himself for liking george and depriving himself of his friendship in some guided honor to lily (which devastates george btw like he would cancel george being his best man in this universe) and lily is trying not to be hysterical and suspicious but it all fails. the pandora box is open and they either need to claw their way up to the Good Ending, or divorce. everyone suffers ❤️
