Game being low-key unplayable but the yuri still hits

Sci-fi shows nowadays are dramatic and realistic. Give me the artistic lighting, give me awkward fight scenes, let aliens wear drag queen level eyeshadows, convince me that the same decoration in every episode is a different planet, make a whole Alice in Wonderland subplot just because you found a big bunny costume in the garage, let the space pirates wear pirate costumes, dress the dog in the secondhand unicorn costume and say it’s an alien species, give me the most angsty episode I’ve seen right after the episode about some moving mama rock, give me the bROMANCE, give me HONOR, LOYALTY, DIGNITY, and some cool unrealistic but beautiful spaceships, give me flip phones as the coolest device ever, give me dramatic zoom-ins, give me thoughtful stares in the distance with dramatic music. Then we’ll talk.

The thing that still gets me is. Look. Culture wise. Lore wise. Why are ANY of the factions who side with the elven Gods actually siding with them. Obviously the darkspawn are controlled by Ghilan'nain so that's fine but:

The Venatori; largely upper class Tevinter mages, are working with the ELVEN gods???? The elves they believe are so beneath them that they quite literally form a slave class? And they're just willing to be subservient to them without any pushback whatsoever???

The Qunari; strong philosophical/religious philosophy which does not incorporate God-like figures. Culturally very against the idea of chaos (which Ghilan'nain and the blight very much symbolise). From what I can see, the Antam left the Qun because they believed that it wasn't following it's own principles well enough; are they really going to randomly start following gods from some bas religion. FURTHER these gods are powerful mages. Qunari historically are very against powerful mages. I mean, there's a whole DLC about how they decide Solas is a huge threat on sight and needs to be eliminated immediately.

And THEN you have the fact that these two factions, the ANTAM WHO ARE INVADING TEVINTER AND ACTIVELY MAKING SLAVES OUT OF TEVINTER CITIZENS AND DESTROYING THE MINDS OF TEVINTER MAGES are going to just be fine with working with THE TEVINTER IMPERALISTS WHO BELIEVE THAT TEVINTER SHOULD RULE ALL THEDAS AND THAT MAGES ARE GREAT.

Surely these two groups should be the MOST diametrically opposed to working with one another because even if they can wipe out everyone else together, for either to achieve their stated aims the other HAS to cease to exist.

It would be interesting if they were sorta going at this like...the way that the Soviet Union and the US worked together in WWII but then it erupted into a cold war once their mutual enemy was defeated. Or if the gods were hiding the fact they were working with both of them. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's just. It's a wild choice. It's basically 'evil people work with evil people no matter what' which is categorically just not how things work.

I remember my heart sinking when he left in 2016 citing that he didn’t like the direction they were taking dragon age and that writing was taking a backseat. Right after, other major leads at BioWare “retired” as well.

I really really truly hope BioWare learns from this but I honestly don’t think they will and even then, as a fan from origins who waited and stayed involved/excited the ENTIRE 10 year gap, I think I’ve finally fallen out of love with the series. I’m not really interested in a DA5.

I kinda just hope they release more books but even then I want those pre southern Thedas wipe. Or maybe during DA4 but in southern Thedas. Or an ancient elves/dwarfs spinoff. Idk.

second alys rivers prediction is she is 400+ years old not because shes a witch or an acolyte of rhllor or something but because shes a personification of harrenhal itself (again referencing the inescapable gravity of The Riverlands and how characters tend to get trapped there)

While I’m not sure if she’s a personification exactly, I do think weirwoods and immortality (or at least, long lifespans) are connected. The Children of the Forest lived for centuries and they were deeply tied to the weirwoods, Bloodraven was like 120 and the dude was grafted inside a weirwood practically.

Alys drinking weirwood paste/sap makes me wonder…

I don’t know how exactly but I suspect the weirwoods are the reason she’s been around awhile. And I think it’s why the Children live longer.
