EL DRAMA ES INMINENTE.
Some things transcend the barriers of language
We’re only finding out recently that a lot of animals have colors and patterns that we cannot see because they’re outside of our visual range. It calls to attention how much of the world we can’t experience because our senses are limited. When we shine UV lights on them, they glow pink or blue, but these are the colors that we CAN see…. they could be a bunch of different colors, which we SEE as all pink. It’s also interesting to consider that most of these animals are not aware of having glowing patches on their bodies…. isn’t it also possible that we have skin or hair patterns that were not aware of? . . (There is actually some research out there to support the idea that our own skin fluoresces as well and that there are gender differences in the pattern and glow.) Other places to see my posts: INSTAGRAM / FACEBOOK / ETSY / KICKSTARTER
Humans do have invisible stripes! They’re called Blaschko’s Lines, formed as skin cells divide at the embryonic stage. Normally we can’t see them at all, though certain skin conditions follow those same lines.
Apparently this is roughly what we’d look like, if our eyes could see in a different spectrum:
Dunno about you, but I want to use this in a story someday. Aliens can see our stripes and we can’t! Magical transformations follow Blaschko’s Lines! A subtle sign of lycanthropy is darker hair there! Wizards are bald with that cool spiral on their heads!
Speculative fiction is so much more fun when you can speculate about something strange but true.
THIS??? IS THE COOLEST???? SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY EVER??????????? AAAAAAAA THAT IS FLIPPING AWESOME!!!!!

good ol days huh
The Dragon of Wantley is a ballad written in the seventeenth century and it’s still one of the funniest things I’ve read
Like it’s all about a knight who goes out to kill a dragon and the first thing he does is put on a suit of armor covered in spikes. And everyone reading the poem who has a passing knowledge of English folklore nods and goes “Hm yes like the Lambton Worm. So the dragon is going to wrap itself around the knight and get skewered, a very common image in folklore”
But what actually happens is the knight just kicks the dragon in the ass, the dragon makes a soliloquy for two verses, and fucking dies
At length the hard earth began to quake,
The dragon gave him a knock,
Which made him to reel, and straitway he thought,
To lift him as high as a rock,
And thence let him fall. But More of More-hall,
Like a valiant son of Mars,
As he came like a lout, so he turn’d him about,
And hit him a kick on the arse.
“Oh,” quoth the dragon, with a deep sigh,
And turn’d six times together,
Sobbing and tearing, cursing and swearing
Out of his throat of leather;
“More of More-hall; O thou rascal!
Would I had seen thee never;
With the thing at thy foot, thou hast prick’d my arse gut,
And I’m quite undone for-ever.
“Murder, murder,” the dragon cry’d,
“Alack, alack, for grief;
Had you but mist that place, you could
Have done me no mischief.”
Then his head he shaked, trembled and quaked,
And down he laid and cry’d;
First on one knee, then on back tumbled he,
So groan’d, kickt, shit, and dy’d.
@lifelong-latent-logic I feel this will make you smile! It made ME smile.
THE COMPLETE MONA LISA
Few people know that the commonly known Mona Lisa (Actually entitled La Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci) is only part of the full painting. The lower half is seldom unveiled as it’s considered to be of lesser quality than the top of the painting, and possibly unfinished by the artist.
But the Louvre today unveiled the lower half for a new exhibition taking place until this summer. Said Louvre Curator Lou V’Curador, “The Mona Lisa, as it’s known, is more than people think. Leonardo was ahead of his time and this threatened art critics of his era so he kept the lower portion hidden and until now, we at the Louvre have respected this concept. But we felt the time was right to showcase the full work.”
V’Curador went on to explain that many modern art aficionados would be upset by the unveiling, and that it would hurt some of their feelings. But V’Curador explained, it was important to the art world as a whole, and everyone knew- He had to do it to ‘em.

Lou V’Curador.
Please refer to him by his proper title, Louvre Curator Lou V’Curador.
You might say he was born for the job
Louis Donatien Alphonse François V’Curador was born in 1977 in a village near Lyon. From an early age he expressed an interest in art. Even at age four he poured over books by Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. He always favored the classics, eschewing anything newer than early impressionists.
He began to work at the Louvre in the 90s as a preservation coordinator, under former curator Ancien Conservateur. Ancien did not make sweeping changes in policy nor function. All who knew her said she preserved a good status quo, treated everyone well, and upheld the balance between the four major departments of the Louvre:
Paintings, Sculptures, Instillations, and Preservation. Under Conservateur’s leadership, the four departments lived together in harmony. But everything changed when the Painting department expanded into the north wing and annexed budgetary concerns from the other departments. Only Conservateur, master of all four departments, could stop them, but when the Louvre needed her most, she vanished.
Time passed and the Louvre elected a new curator, Louis “Lou” V’Curador. And although his departmental interbudgetary planning skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to reorganize the spending policy register. But I believe Lou V’Curador can save the museum:

FLOOFLE TAIL
When a cat approaches you with their tail high and erect like that it means they like you and are happy to see you. I just thought it was cute we were seeing lots of evidence of kitty happiness and the kitty really likes whoever was behind the camera
I noticed the audio for the video “[AMV] Jon Arbuckle - You’re Gonna Go Far Kid” was taken out so I edited it back in

(photos by Bill Watterson and an octopus)
I think this is the best scientist photograph I have ever seen.
But people didn’t believe him on reddit. So Watterson made the photo sequence into a gif.
Here’s the gif for anyone curious.
I had to go through the notes to find the gif. Not because I didn’t believe him but because I wanted to see it.
I can honestly say i’ve never seen a more entertaining ladle.

Bernie arrested again for protesting housing segregation. hey America,this is that old man that you have doubts about running the country. all his life he’s been fighting for the everyman,you and me,and he’s not going to stop. his values and sacrifices are what made America through out history.
I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh…hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????
