'Beneath the Golden Willow' by Ed Perkins
i think this captures the defining pathology of the collective social media psyche right now. we are in the thrall of people who are wantonly cruel but who also demand to be coddled at all times in every way
writers and artists everywhere all the time

Big master post compiling everything I’ve done for this personal visdev project. It’s A Thousand and One Nights but it goes by Once Upon a Time (tv show) rules where most of the stories exists within the same universe and characters interact with each other in their respective stories.
Happy Pride Month to those two women dancing together in the foreground of the boat scene in Godzilla (1954).
I’m sorry your romantic foibles were overshadowed by a big ass atomic lizard thing.

beginning to process gfa after watching it twice and there is something so. crazy sick twisted evil etc about the kind of unspoken unaddressed conflict between bj and hawkeye when bj gets sent back to the 4077th. like when hawk is in the hospital he pushes bj away because he believes bj is still going to be there when he gets back. and so when bj is Not still there he's almost kind of stunned, and then he's angry and bitter and he makes that pretty clear when bj comes back, but they never actually talk about bj leaving. and i think that's because after that
is this.
and it is hawkeye's anxiety about children, but i think part of this is also him seeing in real time why bj left him behind; the sole thing that would make bj so desperate to go home that he'd leave without saying goodbye.
so after that hawk's mission becomes just to make bj say goodbye to him. he doesn't seem all that angry about him leaving anymore, he never even brings it up, because how could he really blame bj for wanting to go home for his daughter's second birthday? but if bj is going to leave (and to hawkeye its Forever, because he doesn't believe they'll see each other again) he has to say goodbye
and i think in the end it's more about hawk not getting to say goodbye. because he can accept that bj won't or can't say it, as long as hawk can do it for him. but so many people have walked out of his life without acknowledging how much they meant to him! so he has to be certain bj knows how important he was before he lets him off the hook. he doesn't just get to walk away without knowing how loved he was!
and the "goodbye" message is bj's way of doing the same for hawk: meeting him where he's at. he can't bring himself to say it, but he knows how much it means to hawkeye. so instead he goes about it in the most hunnicutt-esque way possible, and plans an unnecessarily complicated little scheme to do it in a way he's sure will make hawk smile. so hawkeye gets to say it, bj doesn't have to, and hawk still gets his note goodbye.
