There are many reasons why I love this gifset but one of the most keysmash-worthy things is the last gif. Because it reminds me of when no lesser authority than Confucius himself was approached by his students who were concerned that he was grieving the death of his favorite disciple, Yan Hui, excessively. When they said “Your grief is excessive,” Confucius answered, and I quote, “Is it excessive? If I am not to mourn bitterly for this man, for whom should I mourn?”

Which very much feels like something both LWJ and LXC could empathize with, except they can’t just quote this passage because the whole of society would answer “You should mourn literally anyone else before you mourn this man” :)))
