I would enjoy that (although I would miss Betty), but I would enjoy more if they just inexplicably got custody and had to put up with the Coopers and the Blossoms just randomly popping in on them. Charles would love to see his family, and Chic would be counting in his head to stop himself from stabbing all of them with a kitchen knife. how in contact do you think chic and charles were while chic was living with the coopers

oooo this is really interesting and something i haven’t considered very much. i could see the arguments for both sides (very little contact & very much) but i really don’t know.

this isn’t your question but relating to this, i do wonder what charles thought about the whole chic being the gargoyle king thing. maybe they talk about this in universe i dont remember, but was he all for it? or did he think it was a weird sacrifice of chic’s personhood (although chic’s personhood is always sacrificed, first with the coopers and then with penelope). maybe he was into it lmao

i would love to hear your (and everyone’s) opinions on this, or if it’s talked about in the show cause i haven’t hit charles intro in my rewatch yet and i really don’t remember how it all goes down between chic and charles and the revelation they’re crime husbands

I've gone back and forth on this but given what I know, I think they were no-contact at least at the beginning of Chic staying with the Coopers. Their neighbour said she heard fighting and there was a lot of blood etc, which was probably a co-murder that went off the rails. When we meet Chic, he is without Charles and doesn't hesitate assuming Charles' identity, which means Charles isn't around. However, unlike Chic's claim, Charles didn't die of a jingle-jangle overdose. He is very much alive and I think Chic knows this. My personal pet-theory is that they were in touch at some point during s2 and that Charles approved of Chic claiming he was dead.

During s3, Chic probably isn't in touch with Charles - he just disappears. Maybe that is one of the (several) reasons Charles comes to Riverdale. They make up for real once Charles visits him in prison for the first time. It doesn't really matter what mindset he came in with; at the end of the day, Chic knows his family and Charles needs his help. That's a big part of why they reconcile. They are then in regular contact during s4 & rekindle their relationship in prison before breaking out to get married.
