i think the most haunting thing about the northman is that it's not a story that's meant for us. it's a saga, it lives in saga world, it subscribes to saga rules, it refuses to break the conventions of a 1000-year-old genre, not even for the benefit of a modern audience who might like to laugh at those conventions, or critique them. its a story written to explain the Rules of Reality to people living in a culture that is now dead and gone, whose rules no longer fully apply, but whose remnants still linger in our own world. it's a different kind of ghost story.

I love love your combiner group works so much. Your Combaticon one has so much life to it. Just, the tattoos and chains and poses and Swindle's gold tooth. It's glorious. And with the Constructicon one, I can almost hear them giving me a painfully expensive estimate of building work. It's also made me realise Prowl is the long suffering quantity-surveyor when he's dragged into their gestalt.
