Oh wow! Bzzt!! Not often you get an AMA with two ov the most famous trainers in the world! (θ∀θ)

If it’s kay, I got a question from me, and one from my boss. I’d like to know watt it’s like traveling the world, and if they have a favorite Pokémon based tech they’ve seen. (Not just other Rotoms like myself, ov course! I know here in Kalos the Gogoat delivery service is top notch.)

Okay, here’s boss!

I’m currently a student in a study abroad program in Kalos, working to become a junior researcher with a duo anthro and metaphysics degree. I would love to hear about one or two of the sights Blue and Red have seen on their journeys. Thank you for the opportunity to ask, and thank you all for inspiring me to travel and see things for myself.

"Ever the chatty gossip... Well, for part two of your question... I actually like you a lot! While Red and I stayed at this beach house in Alola, we would often be so busy hosting the Battle Tree that we didn't have time for household chores. Luckily, my Gramps' cousin set us up with some Rotom appliances. It's really handy not to have to do your own chores. How about you, Red?"

"I think Red just got annoyed by me talking about you like you're nothing but a convenience. But it's true, I really appreciate how you and your pals manage to make life more comfortable... Oh Red, stop giving me that look and choose a Pokémon based tech for yourself!"

"I don't know if you can see it from inside the screen, but Red just pulled out his old TM case, with some HMs inside... I think he is sappy over the past, where we used our own teams to get around obstacles. Red, you're so primitive..."

"You know, I had to look up what your boss was studying. He sounds like an egghead you kn- Ouch! Red! That was right between the ribs!"

"Oh wait, I better give the Rotom Dex update a shoutout, too. My Gramps is eager to get his hands on one as well, says they're "top-notch development", whatever he means with that..."

"Okay, okay, I won't call them an egghead anymore! Jeez, I thought you were supposed to be the stoic one, not the aggressive one..."

"Anyways, what I wanted to say: One impressive sight that I'll never forget was actually pretty close to home."

"The image might be a bit blurry. It was taken with a camera before the digital age. What you see here is Cinnabar Island, the way it looked in my youth. my Gramps would take me, my sister and some cousins there on occasion, when he'd visit some research friends. We'd spend the day fishing, running around the beach and look at the rare Pokémon from the rich owner of the mansion on the island. That mountain you see in the back is a volcano. Just after my journey to obtain all badges in Kanto, it erupted. I was visiting home at the time, and when the emergency services requested strong trainers to help out at the scene, I was one of the first to arrive. I will spare you the awful details, but never in my life did I imagine the environment could get so violent... A volcano erupts, and just like that, a whole town disappears. We can go on winning and losing in Pokémon, but if nature so much as twitches, we can be overwhelmed in a second… That's the way it is… That sight, it's haunting. Whenever I visit Kanto, I make sure to stop by the Island and the memorial. I hear there are plans to rebuild it, but it is still a wasteland now."

"What? Don't look at me all smug like I'm a sap. You could see the smoke rise from that place all the way from Pallet Town. What was I supposed to do? You sound just like Gramps. He believes the whole ordeal helped me mature... Oh well, you better cheer us up with a more happy sight, Red."

"Heh. Of course you'd choose Mt. Silver.... I didn't even know they made postcards of the place... Wait, what's this on the back?"

"Misty mountain high, where the ceiling is the sky. Where questions fall like the snow, and where mighty winds blow. Rooftop of the world, there before my cradle and there after my tomb. Where living means to survive, a guardian to loom. Source of my strenght, my master and my contender. A lesson to which I surrender. It makes titles naught and puts worth on a scale. I hope one day the answer will prevail."

"... Red, did you write this? I never took you for a poet."

"Oh come on, don't give me that look. You pulled out that card. I bet it would have sounded even better read aloud in your own voice... Anyway, Rotom and their Boss, if you ever want to travel to the places we mentioned, I'd say go for it - though Mt. Silver has restrictions. Smell ya later!"

That’z awesome that they had a whole suite of Rotom appliances at the Battle Tree, help explainz why it was such a big success!

I’m almost jealous of boss’s reply though; hearing about the Cinnabar Eruption from ground zero is sobering, but really neat. And that poem!! I felt like I could see him standing on the other side of a white field, the thin air frosting my breath, as he turned to lock eyes with me…

Well, today is the day of the Annual Regional Scientific Conference, which I suppose I shall be attending. Let’s see what the best and brightest of the world’s minds have to offer for us this year. With luck, we’ll get something more substantial than, what was it? ‘An application for your Rotom Phone that uses subliminal frequencies to draw in Pokémon whilst you are sleeping in the wild’? At least try and justify your pseudoscience… Arc have mercy.

Dear professor oak! You say toy invented the pokedex, but I've heard a whistle of a professor from sinnoh inventing it back in 1875.. Did you make the Kanto one?

"A good question, my friend! Recording data on Pok'emon goes way back, all the way back to the ancinet times of Hisui. Indeed, I was not the one to come up with the idea of categorizing data on Pokémon the way we do in modern days, but I was the one that invented the first device to be able to record this data automatically. And ever since, the Pokédex has had many updates, courtesy of my many colleagues. I am proud of what we have accomplished thus far, but I also know we are far from done! I hope to live and see new inventions in Pokémon science for years to come!"

Old games like this are a nice time waster when you’re stuck somewhere; not too busy but not too simple. My boss said they look like games from their childhood, like one where a skier is being chased by an Abomasnow, “and I only found out recently that you can get past him, I thought he just always caught you when the round was over!”

… maybe new games have some perks too, lol. (θ∀θ)

Hello, I’m a professional ghost type trainer and I recently (I mean like a few years ago omg) caught a rotom while going into a weird mansion in the middle of the night. My main issue is how do I deal with my rotors energy. They’re always hopping into electronics I’m using (I’m done having my fridge snap at me when I’m getting midnight snack), they keep using my fan to harass my mimikyu and my washing machine to spray at my dragapult and it’s making her sad cuz she misses swimming. How do I attempt to discourage this behavior in my rotom or at least to shit it away from making myself and the rest of my ghosties upset?

Ohhhhhh Rotom. One of my favorite ghost types, but not one I personally can keep due to the other mon in my care, and their NOTORIOUSLY high energy. Sounds to me like your rotom is lacking some healthy enrichment!

First thing I recommend is getting your rotom some more harmless devices to possess. (a dedicated cheap phone, a noise machine depending on if your other mom can handle noise, or an electric toothbrush for some examples) Alternatively, making a space dedicated for your rotom to let loose in some devices, away from your other mon, is also an option!

As with any mon, discouraging a behavior is best done when you give your mon an alternative behavior that still meets their needs. Next time your rotom hops in a device and is harassing your other mon, direct it to a different device, or that dedicated area!

Some additional friendly battles while possessing electronics may also help rotom with that extra energy.

I recommend old radios! Those were my favorite to play with; if you do it right you can catch broadcasts from really far away. Ya local thrift store can have dozens of those beauts, or you could go HAM (literally bzzt!)

The first thing I possessed as a bitty sparkling was a radio a backpacker left behind in a rush, and I loved listening to 99.7: Galar’s Greatest Hits and the public broadcasting with their old Mary and Oak episodes… good timez. ♪(θ◡θ)

I don’t think I can, altho’ I getcha. Bzzt… It’s scary out there with the weather, an the current eventz n’ stuff, and ya kinda feel like you need to see everything to help others or keep safe yourself. But nobody’z built to handle a whole world’s worth of news. (-__-)

A few things you can do are to check in with those around you, the humans and Pokémon who are your friendz and family, and ground yourself on what’s happening closer to home. Doomscrollin can also be kinda addicting, so you might need to take up something physical to get those same brain juices that help keep corporeal beings movin’.

One thing I (and others like me) CAN do is get reminders and timers goin, so you don’t spend too much time scrollin before bed. (I got dimmers set, so I’m not too bright or blue, that helps that too!) But, power’z gotta come from you to set em up and follow em.

How would you rate other rotom forms?

I mean, we’re all Rotoms who got a cool device to pilot around, so we’re not too different from each-other. If I weren’t a Phone though, I’d love to take the oven for a spin, it looks sturdy and blazing! The Galar camera drones look really neat too, they’re built like a Fan, but even faster with tons of sensors and cameras to catch the action and dash away safe.
