When you watch Young Sheldon, you will see a lot of the things Sheldon does aren’t just because he’s smart, but he definitely has autism and OCD. He doesn’t like new things (like smells or people), he has a safe food (spaghetti with hot dogs in it) and he doesn’t like when his food touches each other, he doesn’t understand social cues and a lot of the shows themes are about how Sheldon is different than everyone else. He has contamination and germ OCD as seen by him being unable to hold even his own family’s hands. He got so scared of choking on food thst he would eat it blended for weeks instead.

But most of all, Sheldon’s autism is highlighted when he interacts with Paige; she is smart just like him but NOT autistic. You see this easily in the way they share their interests. Even when he is with someone who is supposed to be just like him, he is different in his own way.
