The Zizek debate was genuinely hard to watch. You can tell he actually thought he was prepared.
When it comes to grifters, the worst thing you can do is believe your own bullshit. That's what made L Ron Hubbard such a successful grifter. The man could pivot on a dime. He was whatever he needed to be in that moment. He knew to never put himself in a situation where his credibility could be measured.
Peterson believed his own hype. You watch that debate, and you watch a man realize that he's way in over his head.
What's saddest to me is that Zizek seemed like he actually prepared too. Zizek picks him so efficiently in the first 10 minutes that he gets visibly bored. It gets to the point where Zizek is trying to give him freebies to save face. I think about that event a lot, but I don't think I could actually sit through that video again.
Presumably the topic of discussion was Marxism. It becomes abundantly clear fairly quickly into the debate that Jordan has only read the Communist Manifesto. Which is like saying you've studied the Beatles because you heard Yellow Submarine on the radio one time.

The really galling thing to me was how, he keeps harping on on the *absence* of certain points. Like he says “Nowhere in this entire 20-page advertising pamphlet does it talk about XYZ” as if it’s a huge gotcha, all of which are all really really easy to find if you just look for them, like, at all, anywhere *other* than the 20 page pamphlet designed purely to advertise it!
Like it’s clear he sees communism/socialism/leftism/whatever as obviously *below* discussion. As not worth talking about. Which... okay, sure, whatever - but if you think it’s below discussion and not worth debating about, why did you show up to a live public debate to discuss it!
My favorite bit from the video is where Zizek just kinda gets fed up with Peterson and goes "Name these Marxists you keep talking about!" As if Peterson isn't just complaining about people who made fun of him on Twitter.

I honestly don't have words. I also promised myself not to ask for help anymore after what happened last time. I don't even know if any of you remember or have the slightest idea how you have helped me before.
I used to be this now terminated account, intromentalist, and I used to have a donation post up asking for help for my father who was at that time battling colorectal cancer.
I don't know how to relay it without feeling as if I am burdening any of you but my father, unfortunately, passed away already after three years of being ill. I understand completely if you don't give a damn. It's not like I am obligating anyone to feel sorry for me and my family. But if it is cool with you, can I ask you to kindly reblog my pinned post?
I wish I could message all of you one by one to ask permission but I am afraid that T/umblr might end up terminating my account yet again for "spamming".
It really would be the last time I ask for help here, I promise all of you. We just don't have enough money to pay the entirety of the funeral services and we also need to pay our debts. We owe his hospital a huge amount of money, and because we struggled to complete the amount needed in time, they have asked the bank to take over our case.
They end up seizing our ancestral house yesterday, and my younger brothers and I have nowhere to go.
I wish I didn't have to resort to this and put my focus on comforting my grieving mother and younger siblings. But I don't know where else to seek help right now. Going online is proven difficult too now that we are homeless.
If any of you wishes to be removed from this post, please let me know so I can do so. I only mean well, and if you need further proof of my father's medical journey or his death certificate or whatever document I can provide, please send me a message through asks because Tumblr removed my messaging feature yet again. I'm working on having it fixed though.
