Nox was a Skeleton this weekend for Anime Weekend Atlanta. He did absolutely amazing for his first con. He did 4 fully closed in elevators without issue, but he didn't want to get on the glass ones. He also had some issues with the stairs in the lobby of the Waverly for some reason. The inly thing I can think is that there were escalators on either side and he isn't find if getting too close to those. Besides those two things he absolutely rocked it. He did great working around @goldenbeatle and did very well with the tight crowds of the dealers room. He got lots of compliments and I am so proud of how his paint job came out. He even met two furries and showed no fear which makes me optimistic about going to fur cons. I need to take a moment and talk about this absolutely amazing boy right here and the last two days! Today I had my first craft show for my art business @mythical.imaginings and Nox was put in his longest ever working day. Not only that but yesterday he was with me while I set up part of my booth and tent for a couple hours. Today started with a 7am run to Starbucks inside Kroger which he was perfect for, followed by heading to the park to unload a car full of boxes, fans, flowers etc. Just like yesterday he heeled next to me while my mom and I carted and carried items from the car to my spot and he relaxed while we put everything together. After that he did great until 6pm tonight when we finally left the park after teardown, during which he held a beautiful downstairs for about 15 minutes while we took things down and moaned all around him with our 15x15 ft space. He ignored dogs, kids, people, balloons, you name it. And even did great in the bathroom with the hand dryer. I asked a lot of him the last two days. He likes to work and by work he likes to move, so being asked to lay still and relax for so long in such a busy environment is a lot for him but I am beyond proud and it shows how far he's coming and how he's maturing. We had a great day at the Yellow Daisy festival! Nox was so good, especially with wearing his rex specs for such a long time. Though he did try and rub them off a few times when he laid down. He struggled very mildly with excitement with the crowds and people trying to engage with him, but considering he hasn't been to anything this busy in over a year and a half or more I'd say he did pretty well. Got a bit excited and focused on some pets people brought (which aren't allowed, but they don't enforce it) but he completely ignored a CCI dog that we passed. I am so proud of him. We have a lot we are still working on but this made me realize things are going better than I thought. We had an absolute blast at our first competition. Everyone was so nice and helpful, willing to answer any questions we had. The Brightside - Dog Training & Boarding has an amazing facility. His first splash he slipped on both jumps so only made it 12'8 followed by his qualifying splash if 13' 9. The judge was super nice and gave me some advice after our first splash as I was throwing a bit late which attributed some to his slipping. His second splash went much better! He jumped 19' even on his first jump with his qualifying jump being 19'5! So we have a qualifying jump in junior and senior division. I am beyond proud of this boy! This is our 4th week of agility foundations. Last week we started working on contacts and he was a bit hesitant, so this week I upped my game and brought peanut butter along. Between peanut butter and some ingenuity from his trainer we worked on comtacrs, getting him confident before we decided to try and full run over at the end of class. This boy crushed it!!! I don't have video but he also did the tunnel today as well as working on his straight lines through jump standards and going around a cone. He absolutely loved the tunnel. Nox rocked his first outing as a fully trained service dog. He came home on Wednesday and last night we attended an event for Supporting People Surviving Abuse. This new amazing nonprofit was started by @anthony_thejackal and was the first fundraiser. Anthony is a very close family friend and basically my big brother. I am beyond proud of him and I am extremely proud of Nox. There were kids playing with balloons, hitting each other and popping them not even 3 feet from Nox and he didn't care. He tasked like he's been doing it for years. Only hiccup was sniffing some feet as people walked by, but I corrected him and by the end of the night he was ignoring people's feet who walked close. Considering he wasn't able to attend events of this size while at training he did amazing and impressed me. I told his trainer and she is so happy with how he did. Thank you #comprehensivepettherapy for training this boy and @lmsoloski for breeding such an amazing dog. Legend lost his battle with lymphoma Sunday night. This is the last picture I have of him and I together a few hours before we put him down. There's so much to say about this amazing boy I don't know where to begin. He was smart but stubborn, a huge goofball and always made you laugh. He romped like a horse in the backyard and at times he spooked like one. He was the best cuddle bug you could ask for and would hog as much of our queen bed to himself as possible, but he always had to be touching me, usually with his back pressed along me. He gave the best hugs and great kisses. He got me through some of my darkest nights and at times was the only thing keeping me alive. His love for Matt is something that I'll always remember and Matt's affectionate nickname for him 'Wiggles'. He'd greet Matt full of wiggles and woo's and give him endless hugs and kisses. The last time he saw him the getting he got reminded me of those solider videos where they come home to their dogs. Yesterday we went to downtown Amelia Island. We just walked around and mom had me pose in front of the really still pirate again... she says they're statues. We got to see a lot of birds and water, I loved watching the birds. I really wish I could have chased one but mom wouldn't let me and I listened after I tried once and she told me no. I preformed DPT for her and she was really surprised because I did it for 3-4 minutes with a little boy talking to me and jumping around. Later we went to the VFW and I was a really good boy and laid down and slept most of the time. We did a bit of training and mom rewarded me with the rope toy! We ended the night with her taking my vest off and I got to go around and visit everyone which I really loved!
