It was sad news hearing that Mark Bell had passed away.

He was one of the innovative forces in the British electronic music scene and as a member of LFO was responsible for bringing Yorkshire techno to the world’s attention.

Although his production talents spanned four decades he will be best remembered by most of us for the seminal bass ‘n bleep track ‘LFO’.

It’s approaching exactly a year since this site went on a break and throughout that time, there has been some brilliant art painted in the city. We covered a short selection of it last week in the first post back which featured work by EMA, Mila K, coLor and more. But that was only a tiny amount of what has been painted in that time and today, we’ve got another snapshot of some excellent work. Featured here is a look at five pieces that were painted at the beginning of the year by members of the H2i crew, including a closer look at the incredibly detailed skull design by Mace, a dark piece by Ink Surgeon and a Breaking Bad-inspired Saul Goodman portrait by Pawski. There’s also a look at just one of Coloquix's many cling film paintings that he has been producing throughout 2014, a tribute to the late Patrick Moore painted by Rocket01 and an innovative letter piece by the brilliant Mars. And finally, the excellent Pre-Emptive Protection by Foundry featuring an apocalyptic background featuring some lovely, fiery colours, one of Eugene's trademark black and white portrait pieces and the second in a series of album art reworkings by Sill, this one focusing on the classic artwork for David Bowie’s “Heroes”. The quality on display here shows just why Sheffield has one of the most highly regarded graffiti and street art scenes in the North.
