If I had to choose a favorite shoe this would be it. The Asics noosa tri 10.Â
If you dont like colorful shoes this is not the shoe for you.
I have recently gotten back into doing plyometrics to get faster. In this process I realized that I did not have the right training shoes for plyos. By plyos I mean ladder drills, speed drills using cones and a variety of other tools. Plyos require you to have either very strong ankles or shoes with great ankle support.
As a general statement, it is hard to find a low top shoe with great ankle support, itâs just not something that the running shoe brands focus on. I have tried New Balance minimus training shoes, Inov-8 training shoes, Nike training and a variety of runners. I personally have strong ankles normally, but when doing one of the workouts I badly rolled my ankle and now it has become really important for me to protect it when doing my plyos.
After testing all of these shoes I found that a typical training shoe just wont really do what I need it to. I actually found that my Asics tri noosa 8â˛s were the best shoes possible for these drills. The reason is that with the minimus type of shoe, which I love for all other types of training and weight lifting, just do not have enough support. Which is the point of the shoe so that should make sense.
While I love my Inov-8â˛s and New balances this shoe just destroys all competition. Its insanely lightweight and it feels just like a glove. It does tend to fit a tad snug, but it can easily be worn without socks because of the ventilated insoles. If anyone is looking for a shoe to provide good ankle support, but still feel like itâs a barefoot style shoe, this is it. Check out the Noosa!
