Important info
It is a long read but DO READ IT! This is taken from the book ‘Eat stop eat’ and without this little part I would’ve never lost weight because I would’ve been too scared of the ‘starvation mode’ and ‘slowing down of metabolism’.
“The story they are telling goes like this; if you lower your calories too much, then you will stop losing fat because your body has entered ‘starvation mode’ and your metabolic rate will slow to a stand-still.
This is the nutrition ‘gospel’. However, it turns out that this is actually not true.
Let me explain. Our metabolism is based on the energetic costs of keeping the cells in our bodies alive. For example, let’s say we put you in a fancy lab and measured the amount of calories you burned in one day sitting on a couch doing nothing. Let’s assume that number was 2000 Calories. This would be called your basal metabolic rate (BMR); 2000 Calories would be the amount of Calories you need to eat to match the amount you burn simply being you.
Now, lets say you moved around that day, perhaps 30 minutes of walking, you might burn an extra 100 calories bringing your daily total to 2100 burnt calories. Your basal metabolic rate is always 2000, and then any extra energy you expend moving your body (such as exercise) is added to that number.
So in this example, you are going to burn 2000 calories per day no matter what you do. So why are we being told that our metabolism will slow down if we don’t eat for an extended period of time? The answer lies with an interesting metabolic process of eating called “The thermic effect of food”, and some clever interpretation of this rather simple process.
The act of eating can increase your metabolism by a very small amount, this is referred to as ‘the thermic effect of food’. This increase in metabolism is a result of the extra energy your body uses to digest and process the food. It takes energy to break down, digest, absorb and store the food once you eat it. This ‘energy cost’ has been measured in laboratory settings and is part of the basis for popular diets that promote the metabolic cost of one nutrient over another.
For example, it takes more Calories to digest protein than to digest carbohydrates or fats, so some diets recommend substituting some protein for carbohydrates and fat assuming this will burn more calories. Although this is scientifically true, the amount of extra calories this dietary change will cause you to burn is very small and will hardly make a difference to your overall calories burned in any given day.
As an example, the idea of eating an extra 25 grams of protein so you can burn more calories is ridiculous to me. If you eat an additional 25 grams of protein you would be adding 100 Calories to your diet just so you can burn 10 calories! The more logical approach would be to just not eat those 100 Calories.
Almost all of the calories you burn in a day result from your basal or resting metabolic rate (the calories it takes just to be alive). Beyond that the only significant way to increase the amount of calories you burn in a day is to exercise.”
He then adds some research to prove the theory. I highly recommend you to read the full book.
“The bottom line is food has virtually nothing to do with your metabolism. In fact, your metabolism is much more closely tied to your bodyweight. If your weight goes up or down, so does your metabolism. The only other thing that can affect your metabolism (in both the short term and longer term) is exercise and weight loss. Even in the complete absence of food for three days, your metabolism remains unchanged.”(!!)
I hope this can give some relief to those who try to lose weight. It certainly did for me. Give your body a little bit more credit will ya?
This is why I deleted my post about starvation mode. Ignorance is bliss and I was just stating what I’ve been told time and time again. So I’m sharing this in hopes to appease anyone who got annoyed with me.
This is so important for people to know! This proves just once more not to accept everything we hear or read and actually do some research. Your metabolism slowing down from not eating is just as wrong as saying “Your body will break down muscle mass if u don’t eat for longer than 36hours” why should your body do that though? Just think logically and you won’t fall for those traps anymore^^ (your body will only break down muscle if there’s no other option. Aka no food and no fat) For more info, just do some research ^^ Stay safe

hi :) I’ve been gone for the summer and I’m trying to start my blog back up again, + I promised I’d do another giveaway, so here it is! basically I’ve ended up with a lot of supplies I just don’t use, either because I have extras or they’re just not my personal style/preference. these are things taken out of the boxes but not really used. today I learned that if you want to slash someone’s tires, don’t slash all four; only slash three because if you slash all four their insurance will pay for it but if you only slash three they have to pay for it all out of pocket
❤
today on satan makes a blog post
Life tip: if someone slashes 3 of your tires, slash the 4th one yourself and blame it on the person who slashed the first 3. Now, your insurance will pay for it.
Life tip: If you slash 3 of their tires, hide out nearby until they discover their slashed tires. Take pictures of them slashing their fourth tire. Show police when they arrive on scene. Convicted of insurance fraud and still have to pay for tires.

your girl is feeling more productive so she decided to share some tips!!
Getting started
Find a good routine and stick to it.
Start slow and be humble though. If you decide that you will do work for an entire day you will probably get tired of your routine really quick and go back to old habits.
Have a good routine
your morning routine should be the most important. Do your bed, groom yourself, plan ahead and do your homework if you have time. If you start your morning feeling productive and actually doing your work, you’ll feel less stressed.
the “when you’re finally home” routine should look like your morning routine. If you get home around noun, start learning/ doing your work as soon as you can.
your evening routine should be all about relaxing. Read a book, watch your show go on social media etc.
being specific is important but don’t plan everything you do and don’t be restrictive when planning (e.g. 7am: wake up and 7:02: brush teeth)
when you’re planning your day never forget to leave time for yourself.
“ if you do x for 30-90 days you’ll form a habit” this is bs ok don’t believe it
How to actually stick to your plans
use apps like The Fabulous, Todoist and My Effectiveness.
or be traditional: start bullet journals, use printables/post-its/checklists
ask for help; if you tried everything and it didn’t work, ask for your family or friends to remind you to get to work
log daily progress
when it comes to doing stuff you don’t like and you’re feeling unmotivated, think about how good you’ll feel after you’re done (that doesn’t mean you can’t hate the process tho)
Random tips that will help you get back on track
always have a clean closet, or at least clean it every 3 days
same goes for your bedroom and study space, but at least do your bed everyday and change the sheets every week
save money
remember that is ok to slip up or do bad old habits
