Post season 2 finale. Vox is learning from his mistakes. Or is he.
redraws of my wife āļøš
Hazbin hotel season 2, episode 7 spoilers below:
I just utterly adore how even as human beings, Alastor and Vox seem to reflect and contrast each other. Visually and otherwise. The reason I really like the grey streaks in Vox's hair is because, for all his jabs about Alastor being an 'old man,' Alastor died fairly young while Vox appears to have been middle-aged at least. It's just a funny contrast given their stances on new vs. old technology.
I also think it's interesting to note the difference in how they lived their lives and progressed through their careers, with the attitudes of their producers summing up this contrast perfectly. Alastor has to maintain a charming, friendly persona while these three guys stare him down. They almost seem bored with him. One appears to be openly glaring, maybe put out by Alastor's visibly darker skin. Alastor doesn't let it bother him in the slightest, just continuing to give his audition so flawlessly that they can't deny him the show.
Yet even when he finally makes it onto the airwaves, they never show him one hint of approval. Just look at each other and nod. With the same cold expressions as ever.
Vox's producers on the other hand...
Well, just look at that difference. In the middle of his show they're looking at him, acknowledging him and his efforts (not knowing how he really got all of those roles). Just look at those warm smiles.
Not that they saved them.
Speaking of their victims... Well, I joked before about how this guy had it coming. Obviously stabbing someone to death over them spilling wine on your shirt is one hell of an overreaction. But at the same time, given the time period and the victim's snobbish behavior, I think it's pretty easy for the audience to nod along and sympathize with Alastor here. Especially taking the racist implications into account. If nothing else, it's a bit cathartic to watch.
Nothing about Vox's murders can be viewed sympathetically. He chose his victims because they had something that he wanted, full stop. None of them ever did anything to him, and in the case of his producers seemed even to like him.
Notably, Alastor's never shown to have touched his producers. Maybe that was just him being smart, maintaining some distance between himself and his victims. I'm not trying to say that Alastor's morally superior to Vox or anything. After all, fully admits he kills for fun. I just think the contrast is interesting. Who they chose to kill and why.
And as much as we like to give Alastor shit for cheating his way into Overlord status, at least he got his radio show on his own.

Just when you think you've cracked the trend, it changes!
iāve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. itās just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. weāre small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, āiām not here to hurt you. hereās something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know weāre on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. iām being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.ā
small talk isnāt to get to know a person. itās just a greeting to affirm youāre buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
When I was a kid and would go hiking with my dad and sibling on vacation, every time we would pass another group, my dad would do the smile and nod and āheyā. And then after weād turned a corner, he would say more quietly, āI must make friendly social noises so they do not eat my youngā and my sib and I would crack up laughing.
Gotta remember that weāre mammals under it all.
Underutilized trope: character graying early because of stress and trauma. Give your blorbo some white streaks. I'm sure they won't mind.
@eat-your-milk Good take. š
*after a visit to berk, the twins: hey H, shouldn't your bf look younger than your dad or sth? hiccup: >:(
This is cracking me up, oh my god. š
Hiccup adores the graying of Viggo's hair. It's a reminder that he's still alive, that he made it out of the hell the gods sent at him (nevermind that the hell in question was Hiccup himself).
No because he really is a yearner and a loverboy beneath a grumpy facade, the persona that grew like armor on him through years and years of constant rejection and fighting for his right to live. He really is capable of wanting to give love and care despite all the hatered that this world has been throwing at him since his birth and for his whole life.
No because this makes him a miracle

United Airlines Flight 232 was a regularly scheduled United Airlines flight from Stapleton International Airport in Denver to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, continuing to Philadelphia International Airport in Philadelphia, United States. On July 19, 1989, the DC-10 (registered as N1819U) serving the flight crash-landed at Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Iowa, after suffering a catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine due to an unnoticed manufacturing defect in the engine's fan disk, which resulted in the loss of all flight controls. Of the 296 passengers and crew on board, 112 died during the accident,[a][3][4] while 184 people survived. Thirteen passengers were uninjured. It was the deadliest single-aircraft accident in the history of United Airlines.[b][5][6] Despite the fatalities, the accident is considered a good example of successful crew resource management, a new concept at the time. Contributing to the outcome was the crew's decision to recruit the assistance of a company check pilot, on board as a passenger, to assist controlling the aircraft and troubleshooting of the problem the crew was facing.[1]:ā76ā A majority of those aboard survived; experienced test pilots in simulators were unable to reproduce a survivable landing. It has been termed "The Impossible Landing" as it is considered one of the most impressive landings ever performed in the history of aviation.[7][8][3]
On the 19th of July 1989, a United Airlines DC-10 bound for Chicago was rocked by a massive explosionā¦
