Here's the herringbone knife I finished up last week! The lighter wood is sycamore, and the darker is mahogany. Fixed drop-point knife with a segmented handle, based on the tail feather pattern of a red-tailed hawk. Didn't get the reds as bright as I wanted, but the pattern still works.⁣ ⁣ Leopardwood, mesquite, and bigleaf maple.⁣ ⁣ Built almost this whole thing live on my new Twitch channel. I had a customer say they had no design preferences, just to do whatever. Here is a father/son lockblade commission, which utilized some pieces of wood I saved from the Shawshank Redemption oak tree. There are also some birch and ebony accent stripes/filler. Hand-delivered these to the customer a couple days ago, and the smile on his face was overwhelming. Brazilian rosewood on a gunmetal Vertex click pen from Penn State Industries. Here's a lockblade that was commissioned as a Father's Day gift for one of my father's old Navy buddies. He's a Texas Tech fan, so I incorporated a red and black stripe to kinda-sorta mimic their logo.⁣ ⁣ The main wood in the handle is cherry. The broad red and black stripes are padauk and Macassar ebony, respectively. The thin white and black stripes are Baltic birch and African blackwood, respectively. The scales are bonded with two-part epoxy, and pinned, and the whole piece is sanded to 2000-grit, sealed with CA, and then buffed with beeswax.⁣ ⁣ I'm extremely pleased with how this one came out, and had a lot of fun doing it.
