I have a hypothesis that Hiccup Fishlegs and Camicazi all have the same proportion of people that prefer them if that makes sense so I want to test that

I'm really feeling Hiccup's "there were dragons when I was a boy" speech from the httyd books as someone who's been coming into adulthood in recent years. So much has physically, literally changed in the world since I was a kid. What tales of childhood might I tell when (if) I make it to 80?

"there were blue skies when I was a girl."

"there was enough food when I was a girl, even though it wasn't distributed."

"there were more types of bees than we could have ever hoped to know when I was a girl."

"there was coral when I was a girl."

"there was still time to reverse our trajectory when I was a girl. We could have still made different choices."

I don't want it to be any of these. But I'm scared. I'm so scared. I'm scared of looking back over my lifetime and seeing decades of loss; organisms and concepts that will only exist for the future generations in stories. Animals that could fade into legend and experiences so foreign and far removed as to be fantastical. Will our children or children's children wonder how we could ever take something so incredible as the american beech as anything other than wondrous? How will they mourn the slow drowning of their ancestral homelands? Will the devastation of unnatural disasters-- the fires and hurricanes and heat waves and droughts and floods just be weather to them? Will a time where those events were exceptional be more strange to them? Will they resent us, all of us, for not doing everything we could to ensure that they didn't inherit a maimed planet? How much magic and beauty and life and wonder will only be seen in retrospect?

If I have kids, I don't want this for them. I don't want frogs to occupy the same space as dinosaurs. And I'm trying. I'm fighting for a world where they won't. But I'm so scared and sometimes - most of the time - I have no idea what to do. And there's so much that's still worth fighting for. There's so much that we can save. And yet the fear that we won't, that we've already missed the boat, eats me alive.

Does anyone know where the amber slavelands actually are? Like are they the same as the uglithug slavelands because I didn't think they were but I can't see it marked on the map in my books. Also I thought it could on the swallowing sands because the name makes sense but it's there's no prison darkheart label so I'm not sure. (Writing a fic and I want to be directionally accurate)

One of the many inconsistencies in the httyd books which I'm still not over is why the venomous vorpent poison is considered the most potent poison in the world when the poisonous piffleworm will kill you a second flat instead of months, like if the witch had just used piffleworms when she tried to poison hiccup with her nails in book 9, books 10-12 would never have even occurred. And even if hiccup wasn't immune because of the whole potato thing why would she expect anything to happen to him anyway because of the poison-death lag time. Anyway if anyone has answers that would be appreciated, but I'm assuming it's just like the messy timeline thing and I shall forgive it in the scope of it otherwise being the best children's series of all time.

I've been thinking about how I noticed Snotlout seems to have a very particularly strong vitriol for Camicazi despite not knowing her that well and barely interacting with her and her being four years younger. Like he utterly detests her, it's very noticeable. He taunts Hiccup and Fishlegs by telling them how he's hoping they'll finding her corpse in the water, and in Betray he can't mention her without describing how awful she is (the "she's just a bog-burglar" was to try to push Hiccup and Fishlegs away, what I'm referring to is the "and even rescue that horrible little bog-burglar Camicazi" when he was trying to convince them to trust him). I was thinking there are several reasons: The first is obvious, although they don't interact with each other often, all their interactions are negative, and Camicazi is annoying in general. The first time they met (at least on page) was when Camicazi told FISHLEGS to push Snotlout into the ocean while everyone was cheering for Snotlout. Snotlout craves the attention and love he was given by the tribe when he was the only heir as a toddler (I think they seriously thought Snotlout would be the heir at the time, the phrase "they so wanted a child" makes me think Valhallarama and Stoick were having fertility issues so I think everyone treated Snotlout as heir), and he was enjoying being cheered for. Camicazi utterly ruined this moment for him, by getting Fishlegs of all people to push him. Additionally the dragons awaking at the beginning of Betray was fully Camicazi's fault for refusing to speak quietly, he was justified in being angry at her there. It's just that his anger becomes hypocritical when he hands her over to her enemies despite her helping to save him. The second reason is what Camicazi represents. Camicazi is the heir of another tribe and she absolutely ADORES Hiccup. Snotlout wants everyone to see how weak and ridiculous Hiccup is, and how Snotlout should obviously be the heir. The future Chieftan of a nearby highly renowned tribe thinking Hiccup is the coolest thing in the world and following him around everywhere like a love sick puppy-dog is like a death knell in Hiccup being further cemented as the Heir of the Hairy Hooligans (Thuggery's similar treatment of Hiccup being another similar death knell which I think made the Camicazi thing feel even WORSE, I bet Snotlout hated Thuggary tons too). Camicazi even treats Hiccup as her superior or liege in many ways (not as in she thinks he's better than her, she obviously thinks she's the best, but there is a pretty clear leader-follower relationship between them) which I always think would've had interesting implications for future politics lol (if like everything after book 5 didn't happen so Hiccup didn't end up as her legal liege). Camicazi also represents the CHANGE that Snotlout hates so much, and it is change brought about by Hiccup in addition. The Bog-burglars and Hooligans have been enemies for over a century, and the phrase "The only good bog-burglar/hooligan is a dead bog-burglar/hooligan" was a common saying and taught to their children. But Hiccup and Camicazi changed that in the blink of an eye and now the two tribes have this Gondor-Rohan like allyship/friendship. Snotlout gives this as his reason for hoping Camicazi would turn up dead in book 8, so this one is definitely canon.

32 "THEORIES" ABOUT THE END OF DOOM OF THE DARKWING!

My theories why hiccup and Camicazi could become enemies in the future like the prophecy fortold: 1- Camicazi thinks girls are better than boys but Hiccup thinks boys are better than girls 2- Camicazi steals Hiccup's shield. Their descendants will sort it out in a hundred years or so. 3- Hiccup decides the prophecy dragon didn't have brain damage and decides to preemptively kill camicazi. "A man who flies from his fear often takes a short cut to meet it" - Sador/Labadal, The Children of Hurin by J.R.R. Tolkien. 4- They want to follow the prophecy because they think its so funny

5- hiccup thinks girls are better than boys but camciazi thinks boys are better than girls 6- They just hate eachothers personalies 7- "Why do you want to kill me just because I am a redhead, Camicazi!?' 8- Camicazi gets REALLY annoying as an adult and is makes Hiccup angry 9- Camicazi and Hiccup fall in love with Fishlegs after he becomes a poet and gets a glowup where he stops wearing glasses which is dumb :(. so Camicazi and Hiccup come to blows and mortally wound eachother and Fishlegs is angry and sad because they never even asked him what he want (he didn't want to date either of them in the first place) and now his friends are dead and he can't see. 10- Fishlegs steals the throne by lying to Hiccup and Camicazi about eachother

11- Stormfly respicrocates Toothless's feelings for her, but Hiccup wont let her marry him until she gets the firestone back from the volcano because Hiccup decided he wanted it back. The problem is that the firestone was an egg that hatched so Stormfly cant get it and dies unfortunately. And then Camicazi is angry at Hiccup and Hiccup goes in a hole. 12- Fishlegs becomes jealous of their close friendship so lies to make hiccup stop being friends with camicazi 13- Toothless and Camicazi become enemies and Hiccup by extention 14- Toothless kills Big-Boobied Bertha 15- Camicazi is forbidden by Hiccup to burgle from the Meatheads. Camicazi disobays and gets caught. The meatheads catapult her to berk and she falls on Stoick and Vallhalarama killing them. Hiccup vows to kill Camicazi. 16- They played a mildly heated game of checkers in between Doom of the Darkwing and Fight of the Flamestrike and that is what the prophecy is refering to. 17- In book 3 of Dragon School there is a misunderstanding at the beginning and they give eachother the cold shoulder and make up at the climax. 18- Camicazi finds out about the prophecy and gets angry at Hiccup for not taking it seriously. The prophecy is a Cognito hazard. 19- Speaking of cognito hazards Camicazi decides to build rokkos basalisk so she won't be tortured forever and Hiccup thinks this is selfish and shortsighted. 20- Camicazi is in love with Hiccup and reads too many enemies to lovers romance novels. 21- 'Over there' isn't a specific area. By "that girl over there" The Prophecy Dragon meant Excellinor. 22- Hiccup becomes evil and Camicazi has to stop him! 23- Hiccup bans girls from the wilderwest 24- Camicazi spills blood in Hiccup's books. 25- Hiccup starts a school and gives Camicazi straight F-. 26- Hiccup becomes jealous of Camicazi's ease at life in the barbaric archepilgo before he became king and wants her to feel the PAIN he felt trying to fit in. 27- The Prophecy Dragon just got to much salt water in its eyesockets or whatever Hiccup said 28- They play one of those card games/video games that claim they can end your friendship and it works. 29- Hiccup sues Big-Boobied Bertha for custody of Camicazi because he thinks he'd be a better parent than her, and wins but Camicazi disagrees with this outcome. 30- Hiccup makes fun of Camicazi for being a year younger. Incessantly. It gets old fast. 31- Camicazi and Hiccup at first work together, digging up dinosaur fossils. But they become competitive and start blowing up fossils with dynamite so they can find more than the other. 32- All of these (not necessarily in the order listed). Tag urself

This definitely makes a lot of sense with the more childlike tone of the new books, she's sort of writing to encourage new readers rather than bring back old ones, which is definitely understandable given the sad state of children's literacy today (at least in the UK).
