Aging is a Gift
To me, it really is.
I know a lot of people feel a quiet dread as birthdays creep up, especially once you pass the milestone of 30. Society doesn’t exactly celebrate aging—especially for women. But honestly? I see it as a gift. A blessing. A sign of survival.
I started this blog a million years ago—or at least it feels that way—as an 18-year-old who was carrying more than she should. Life hadn’t been kind to me in a lot of ways. There were times I didn’t know if I’d make it. There were nights I cried quietly and mornings I barely got out of bed. I didn’t have the language for what I was feeling, but I knew something inside me was breaking.
But here we are.
That 18-year-old girl wished for things like safety, love, stability, peace, purpose. Not even big dreams—just the basics that so many people take for granted. I have all of that now. Not because it magically arrived, but because I fought for it. I clawed my way through trauma, heartache, healing, and growth. And somewhere along the way, I became someone that younger me would be proud of.
I’m 34 now. That’s not just a number. It’s not “another year older.” It’s proof. Proof that I survived what once felt unsurvivable. Proof that healing is possible. That peace can find you—even if it takes time. That you can rebuild your life from ashes and create something soft, warm, and real.
So no, I don’t dread getting older. I welcome it.
Because every candle on my cake is another year I get to live.
And that? That’s the real gift.
