Adrian chuckled to himself at hearing the tales of her renown, giving a little ‘ahh’ to himself upon her remark about the veggies. Of course. Silly him.
“Sugar, friend?” he inquired upon his return to the parlour, placing the container and its little spoon on the beverage tray as well. His shadow followed behind him rather… slowly.
Iitl lingered there in the doorway, exactly half of his face peering around the corner to see Monty. If he were a creature of flesh, he’d probably blush at seeing her there, in the flat. It was such a personal space, and he’d taken great care in the past to not make apparent his recurring thoughts- she didn’t know about them, right? So why was she here?
“Ah, you’ll remember Iitl-” Adrian shifted to try waving the incubus forward, but the dark one seemed to have hidden himself again. “… Iitl?”
“Are you okay?” whispered Iitl where he lurked on the ceiling above Monty, lowering himself far enough so that, although upside-down, his eyes were on level with hers. This took quite the courage. “Can I bring you woods in the tea? I mean tea in your woods? You tea in the woods.”
“Iitl, get down from there- be civil.”
“I don’t mind if I do.” She took a bit of sugar for her tea, half a teaspoon should be enough. Monty didn’t have the biggest sweet tooth. But, she didn’t mind a spot of sugar in her tea.
“Of courssse I do. How could I forget him?” She absentmindedly rubbed her abdomen. Monty let out a little chuckle. “Me? Fine. If you’re wondering why i’m here, it'ssss becausse i’m keeping my promissse to Adrian here.” And… seeing the father of her children didn’t hurt.
Monty flushed at his words. He-He wanted to see her? That.. That wasn’t something that people usually did. They.. usually left her once they found out she was knocked up.
The naga broke eye contact with Iitl, face slowly but surely turning red. “Of courssse you can. bring me tea in the woodsss. Though, meat may ssserve you better.”
Adrian took to a sip of his own tea, using it to help the casual nature of a glance over his shoulder, flashing the incubus an encouraging look. At the same time, though, he knew plenty enough tact to take a few steps back– a retreat he disguised in placing aside his beverage and rifling through the gramophone records for a nice tune to put on. This then became alphabetising a few misplaced albums, and this then became a search upstairs for a missing record.
Iitl, in the meantime, wrestled with his reality enough to stand like a “normal” person, both feet on the floor. His hair, however, remained as nervous as anything and stood practically on-end, a statically charged sight. Though he had no light in his cheeks to show a blush, little puffs of dark smoke floated off of him in bursts, as if he were physically steaming. “I’m okay without meat! I mean, I could find some veggies too, if you- if you could do with some there? I’m good at hunting, when- when I try.” Something close to a reluctant pride entered his voice as he stood a little straighter.
No one he slept with remembered his name, really, or let him enter a waking thought; incubi were dream lovers in every sense of the word, a part of the past come the next day. Especially if they felt ashamed for accepting him as a partner.
“I… I’ve never done this before.” Then he took a few steps closer to Monty to clarify quickly, his words falling over one another, “Never fathered children and, uhm, talked to someone again! It’s- it’s, uhm,” His fingers twisted a few tresses of his hair before he released them again and admitted, “It’s new? And I really like my home here. But, I know there can be a time of new things… if you like them.” He looked at her again, and then the wall was very interesting, another puff floating upwards from him.
Monty noticed the shift in his posture, and his hair remaining straight enough to defy gravity. She smiled. “I’ll welcome anything that will give me body weight. I won’t be able to hunt when the time comesss.” That is to say, when she laid her recent eggs. She didn’t leave her den when she had eggs to watch. There were too many things in the forest that would.. eat... them. She suppressed a shudder at the thought.
She laughed. “I might need a nice sstrong man to hunt for me for once. Even if your quarry isss vegetables.” There was just a hint of playfulness in her voice.
Monty blushed harder and looked into her cup at his next words. “If i’m honessst, my sssituation is the ssame. Partnersss tend to... leave after they dissscover they’re fathersss.” She looked up an smiled at Iitl. He was... the first to be nice to her like this, and offer to come visit her. “New thingss are nice.” She’s experienced quite a bit of new environments before ending up in the enchanted forest she was currently in. This was nothing like her native country.
