“Today you watched as I made myself lunch. It’s a simple action that I do without really think. Soup, chips and cheese. But you watched me like a movie. I was confused until you said, “sometimes I just want to watch you. To see who you are in your own home.” A few hours later I got to thinking about it. I want you to study me. I want you to be the one who knows how I tie my shoes, wash my face or brush my teeth. I want you to be the one who can predict my little habits. Like how I tap my pen when I’m contemplating the next sentence in the story I’m writing. How I move my foot back and forth between the brake and gas pedal when driving through town. I want you to notice the little things like how I look at the ceiling twice when entering a room for the first time. How I look at your lips when you talk or I try to memorize your face for the lonely nights ahead. I want you to realize I steal your sweatshirts because when we have to be apart and I’m alone or upset… it helps me feel close to you. Sometimes I put them in my pillow case so I can close my eyes and the smell of you makes it easier to pretend I’m not alone. I want you to know every little thing because I want you to know me. All of me. All the stupid, weird and silly things that make me who I am. I want that because I want to know all of you too.”
— I want you to know me.
“small steps and hasty mornings of tracing the creases in your forehead, paintings on backs and cups of tea on Thursday afternoons. screaming and flying ornaments, apologies and meaningful kisses. such a pretty concept, but we don’t fit into it. we’re more: late night jokes and imagining the feel of your body sat next to me, cups of tea at 4am when we can’t sleep. laughing so hard our stomach hurts and watching movies we don’t even like. talking about how your face looks so fresh in the morning light and nose kisses to make things right.”
— my love, we’ll get through this. together, we are stronger, than alone.
“Small things that mean a lot - cute texts, tight hugs, long replies, holding hands, and kisses on the forehead.”

you’re totally & completely worthy of love at your most fucked up parts of your life. you don’t have to “fix yourself” or reach a certain point of growth to be loved & to love.Â
I don’t know what we did to deserve Mr. Rogers but I’m so glad we had him.Â
“Destroying things is much easier than making them.”

It’s so weird how sometimes when I read a poem it just feels like a bunch of words and sometimes when I read a poem it feels like someone ripping my heart out of my body and throwing it at my face at 90 mph
“I will surround you with a love too deep for words.”
— Mumford & Sons
The town is white.
The snow is softly falling.
Down the street, between the waiting crowds, they come,
The Buffaloes,
The Black Regiment,
The band ahead,
Thumping, crashing,
Booming, smashing,
As “Onward, Christian soldiers” fills the air.
Black are the lines,
All splendid black,
Beneath the sharp bayonets,
Under the high waving flags;
A long way they have marched,
Down the long years they have come,
Through suffering and despair,
From Africa to Manhattan,
From slavery to freedom,
Men— citizens at last,
No masters, No Protectors,
Owning themselves,
Saving themselves,
Marching, marching,
Rank on rank,
Black, all black,
Marching, marching,
Over the soft-lying snow,
Marching, marching,
Black, all black,
Admits the pale falling snow,
Africa Here !!
Embattled,
Free!
Now ready to fight for us,
Now ready to fight with us,
Ready to fight for themselves,
Ready to fight,
Ready to die,
For freedom.
