who do you think would be the best and worst singer (+in between) in the rampion crew?
Like on a scale of "sings like an angel---to 'can enjoy a nice kareoke shesh' --- to 'mt singing will probably cause an avalanche's levels
This was fun to do; thanks for the ask! This is in no particular order. Some of the explanations are comically larger than the other characters, but I didn't mean to do that on purpose lol
My Rampion Crew Singing Headcanons
People are usually surprised to learn that Cinder can even sing. She’s actually quite talented--more than anyone would expect, given that she doesn’t come across as the comforting or soothing type. That said, she’s not on Cress’s level. Just average. She’s no Adele, but she can sing pretty decently (I mean… she is a princess 🙄).
She’s a closet singer. The Rampion crew doesn’t find out until she gets pushed into doing karaoke with them one night. And obviously, they’re completely in awe.
Cinder discovered her talent back when she worked at her mechanics booth. The days were long and lonely, filled with noise from the streets but no real conversation, so she filled the silence with music.
After the fire, even with the amnesia, the one thing that sticks with her from before the coma is a simple lullaby Channary used to sing to her as a baby. She doesn’t know where it comes from, but she still hums it while working anyway. She later sings the same lullaby to her own children.
Kai loves when Cinder sings. He’s caught her once, twice--maybe more--while she’s working or rocking their baby to sleep. She isn’t trying to hide it from him; she just gets shy when he points it out and brushes it off quickly. Kai, however, finds it incredibly impressive… and very attractive.
When Kai is sick with a fever and half-conscious, Cinder sits beside him, placing cool cloths on his forehead and softly singing. At one point he murmurs, “Your voice is the only thing healing me right now,” and that makes her smile.
Once Cinder grows more comfortable with her voice, she starts belting with Kai at the most random times. Like while they're buried in paperwork in their office and he suddenly spins her around mid-song.
This is irrelevant to the ask, but Cinder enjoys listening to rock/alternative/grunge music.
Also average when it comes to singing. Not bad, but not pop-worthy either. He can’t really hit the high notes, but that has never stopped him from absolutely belting his favourite songs or doing karaoke.
On really good days, Cinder wakes up to Kai already singing and dancing to his favourite song while making cereal. She has no idea where that energy comes from, but hearing his voice first thing always makes her day better.
He loves duets, especially with Cinder, but honestly with anyone.
He was definitely in his school choir, trying to excel in ever facet of life, even though he knew singing wasn't exactly his strongest suit.
Kai may not be the most talented vocally, however, his hands on the piano are another story. The palace has access to countless instruments, and Kai takes full advantage of it. He used to perform at recitals, and if you dig deep enough online, those videos still exist. He can also play the violin.
Sometimes Kai will play the piano and Cinder will softly sing along to the keys.
After Cinder wakes up from nightmares, Kai loves to hug her tight and quietly sing her back to sleep. They’re the same songs his mother once used to pull him back from his own night terrors. And later, he sings to his kids, too.
Scarlet isn’t the strongest singer, and she knows it, but she doesn’t let that stop her.
The moment country music comes on during karaoke, she hops up without hesitation and sings her heart out.
Scarlet is bold, unashamed, and full of energy, and her enthusiasm is contagious. The whole crew can’t help but cheer her on.
Even though it seems like he'd be the one causing an avalanche, Wolf is surprisingly good at singing jazz.
It even shocks himself, since he’s never really sung a day in his life.
The Rampion crew loves it whenever it’s his turn in karaoke. Wolf is quietly proud but pretends he’s not; the rare compliments make him secretly grin.
Cress sings like an absolute angel. She’s the best singer out of the entire crew and can hit all the high notes with ease. Her vocal range is actually insane.
Once she overcomes her nerves and starts imagining herself as a pop star on stage during karaoke, you know Thorne is already on the verge of tears over her pretty, sweet voice. The crew hypes her up so much that she slowly starts becoming more confident in herself.
Cress is a shower singer. She belts loudly with the shampoo bottle as her mic and fully commits to the performance every time.
Much like Cinder, her days on the satellite were painfully lonely. She spent a lot of time singing simply to make sure she didn’t lose her ability to talk properly because of how rarely she spoke to anyone.
Because of all that time alone, Cress also wrote her own little songs and poems in a diary. At first, she doesn’t share this with anyone, not even Thorne. She’s incredibly shy about it.
But once she gains confidence, she starts posting song covers on social media, sometimes even going live. Eventually, she even releases one of her own original songs.
After the revolution, she takes it upon herself to pick up new hobbies and learns how to play the guitar or ukulele to accompany her vocals.
Thorne is a terrible singer. Like, genuinely might be the worst out of the entire crew. However, this does not stop him from fully believing that he is an absolute rap god.
During karaoke, he loves “competing” with everyone to see who can rap the fastest. It’s very serious to him. No one else is taking it that seriously.
He gets especially competitive with Cinder. Unfortunately for him, Cinder absolutely owns him every single time--effortlessly, without even trying that hard. Thorne, of course, refuses to accept defeat and always insists he was “warming up” or that the mic was “rigged” 😂
Like Cress, Winter has the voice of an angel, though her vocal range isn’t as wide.
She loves singing soft, rhythmic songs, and whenever she sings, all eyes are on her.
One time, she was singing to the chickens on Scarlet’s farm, and they all stopped moving, cocked their heads, and just listened--truly mesmerized.
The best way to describe her voice is like Aurora (the singer of Runaway, if you know her). It’s enchanting, ethereal, and utterly captivating.
He refuses to partake in karaoke, but the truth is, out of all the Rampion guys, he has a voice that sounds almost angelic.
No one knows about this except for Winter. Since childhood, whenever she had hallucination episodes, Jacin would sing to soothe and calm her.
Many times, Winter would sing along with him to help regain control of her mind and breathing.
Winter loves when he sings, and he never says no to her. It’s a quiet, intimate secret they share.
She is great at singing, but a lot of that comes from being an android, she can swiftly alter pitch and tone perfectly.
She can even mimic famous singers flawlessly, which she loves to do just to mess with the crew.
Iko can make her voice go deep or high depending on the song, and it’s absolutely freaky, but also hilarious when she exaggerates for dramatic effect.
