Ok no flaming a girl for hot takes but to me vol 9 is quite good on its own but within the show as a whole it is kind of bonkers that you had to literally remove the main characters from the real world and plot into a literal psychologically derived fantasyland in order to really get the character arcs explored.
I notice that, in the Mario movies, during the two times the bros are protecting a large swath of people, Mario leads the charge while Luigi goes off on his own to protect stragglers.
I like the consistent pattern that while Mario spearheads the acts of heroism, Luigi has a particular softness for those who are at risk of being left behind.

There's been talks by crew members who work in RWBY about the show lasting 12 Volumes because that's what Monty had in mind. Is that true by any chance?
I think it’s silly to try and stretch something out based on assumptions and guesses but they’re gonna do what they’re gonna do.

Yea as a casual fan of Sonic. Would it be like, smart to read the IDW Sonic comics first? Or like, so I need to read something else first? Is there lore? I seen the sonic movies so I know that eggman and nega-eggman made shadow and stuff but like…that how far my knowledge of sonic goes.
I encourage you to read the comics, since they stick the closest to the timeline of the games. The first batch of issues even takes place a while after Sonic Forces, and they reference the events of past games every so often.
Also, I don't want to nitpick, but Shadow was created decades before the games take place by Eggman's ancestor, kicking off the plot of Sonic Adventure 2. I'd recommend playing it or finding a walkthrough. It's considered to be one of the best!

Fire and ice in equal amounts. Not too hot, and not too cold, but just right.
I like both Sonic Archie and Sonic IDW, but for different reasons.
Sonic Archie wasn't afraid to make it's own ideas and concepts, it tried to make Sonic lore bigger and crazier than the games were. It got bolder with it's storytelling and art direction.
Sonic IDW is more in-line with the actual video games, it's much easier to get into and it can even be considered canon. It's something you'd actually expect a Sonic story to be.
And I think fans of one who are avoiding the other are really, truly missing out on something great.
"it would be so good if it was good" will haunt you but "it's extremely good, except for the one or two parts which are so bad it's genuinely kind of insulting" will straight up drive you insane
one has you making posts like "okay but if the author UNDERSTOOD the POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS of the story they were telling, and leaned into it, it would actually be a really interesting exploration of..."
the other has you pacing your bedroom at one in the morning going "why. why would you ever in a million years do it like that. genuinely what possible thought process was involved. was the writer possessed by a fucking ghost or something."
