Ūropi (Europe)
Ūropi, also known by its indigenous name “Europe”, meaning “wide-gazing” or “broad of aspect”, is a small continent first discovered in 1806 by Moehanga of Ngāpuhi, although indigenous Europeans had been living there for many thousands of years. Modern researchers believe the indigenous Europeans originally migrated from the Middle East, and over time split into separate tribes or “kingdoms,” with many retaining their ancient rangatira (called “monarchs” or “nobility”) to this day.
While many see Ūropi as timeless and exotic, indigenous Europeans have actually adapted well to the modern economy, often exporting cultural products like baguettes and vodka, the former of which may be recognisable as the basis for bánh mì.
hey isn't that the place where River Gulu is
My (ADHD) focus/organization strats
Here's some stuff that I've found works, and is working for me this semester! I want to go back and make cute graphics for this but. We'll see.
Doing a reading: Going for less visual clutter (tip: throw everything in a box, a pile behind you, or tucked behind your computer so you can't see it). Just need:
Computer to keep pomodoro timers and use with...
...Overear headphones to (1) block out distractions and (2) give me enough stimulus to stay present. My fav is white noise + the lofi study stream (nothing else fits my brain's requirements of no voices, round not sharp sounds, minor or no fading/switching side-to-side)
Critically, mini notepad for distracting thoughts. Anything that's not the reading (cool websites, chores, people to text, games to try...), write it down, deal with it when you're done. By which point it will probably not feel as important lol
A notebook if the reading is digital, or the reading + stickynotes if it's physical (bc I take notes like this but without the rewriting part usually)
Taking notes: Going for faster & easier writing, reviewing, & remembering
Color code classes and use that color in my headings, boxes (if we watch a video, i'll box my bullets on the video so I can differentiate from the lecture content), and...
...Pictures/diagrams, esp during lecture for Speed. Easier to look at and easier to remember than words.
Color code annotations (underlines/highlights in my notes, or the sticky note colors). I use big point, subpoint, new term / names / etc stuff I'll probably be tested on, and my thoughts/stuff i like
Annotate everything. Add your emotions, reactions, connections, examples, questions, ideas. I give these their own color. They go good in margins. Easier review, better remembering.
Surviving lecture: Thankfully my professors are very engaging this semester but I still use some strats
Fidgets omg. I got over myself and started bringing a fidget spinner and popit to class and it saves my life
Chop up video lectures, this is Prof. Mary Latta's idea she gives us 2-3 shorter video lectures instead of 1 long one. Pomodoro it.
Get involved with people. This is hard and took me years but it's awesome. Complement people and ask questions (stickers they have? their outfit, hair, nails, tattoos? work? major? interest in the class?), because you can (1) get friends/study buddies/people to sit next to, and (2) break the ice to asking for help and getting different perspectives. Hang out a little after/before class, ask for their reactions, examples, ideas. Gush your excitement or confess your confusion to the prof, or overhear someone doing that and jump in if you relate. None of us know 100% what's going on and it feels great to fill the gaps (or validate asking the prof for clarification!)
And important addition, when you get the pomodoro breaks (and before you start), ACTUALLY TAKE A BREAK. Do you need a shower/snack/water. You probably need to stretch. You might even need to move locations or get a different chair or move the light just to shake things up.
I should change my icon cuz it's just a subtle BNHA reference and I haven't watched that show in like. 6 years. But I've grown attached to my lil blue campus icon
I'm back bc 4 asynch classes while working (and moving 💀) is Hard and I need social media to cope.
Hello again studyblr! I quit college after my AA and now I'm back bc I decided I want to be a teacher 🤪 Going to uni in a year (hopefully) for Applied Linguistics BA + Education MA, but for now I'm just having fun at community college so I can look more diligent lol
As someone recently diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, one thing that’s been helping me grapple with the intense shame I have over all my “wasted potential” is accepting that potential doesn’t exist and never did.
This sounds so harsh, but please bare with me.
I procrastinated a lot growing up. I still procrastinate today, but less so. And yet, I got good grades. I could write an A+ paper that “knocked [my professor]’s socks off” in the hour before class and print it with sweat running down my face.
I was so used to hearing from teachers and family that if I just didn’t procrastinate and worked all the time, I could do anything! I had all this potential I wasn’t living up to!
And that’s true, as far as it goes, but that’s like saying if Usain Bolt just kept going he could be the fastest marathon runner in the world. Why does he stop at the end of the race??
If ANYONE could make their top speed/most productive setting the one they used all the time, anyone could do anything. But you can’t. Your top speed is not a speed you’re able to sustain.
Now, I’ve found that I do need to work on not procrastinating. Not because the product is better, even, but because it’s better for my mental health and physical health to not have a full, sweating, panicked breakdown over every task even if the task itself turns out excellently. It’s a shitty way to live! You feel bad ALL the time! And I don’t deserve to live like that anymore.
So all of this to say, I’m not wasting a ton of potential. I don’t have an ocean of productivity and accomplishments inside of me that I could easily, effortlessly access if I just sat down 8 hours a day and worked. There’s no fucking way. That’s not real. It’s an illusion. It’s fine not to live up to an illusion.
And if you have ADHD, I mean this from the bottom of my heart: you do not have limitless potential confounded by your laziness. You have the good potential of a good person, and you can access it with practice and work, but do not accept the story that you are choosing not to be all that you are or can be. You are just a human person.
IT CAME!! I'm hesitant to do much with it until I get a writing board bc wow they weren't kidding those pages are thin. Maybe binder clips too to keep the pages from slipping... If anyone has tips on hobonichi ergonomics / not damaging the pages hmu!
I'm so excited to absolutely desecrate this with stickers and tape and
idk why tumblr won't let me edit this but i drafted this weeks ago and i figured out how to write on it lmao

Oops no pics of it out of the package (yet), but in that box is a cyan pilot Metropolitan :D :D :D these are so so easy to write with, I was using a Pilot G-2 which is 0.7mm for my teeny (3.7mm? I think?) Hobonichi grid lines and these not only fit better but take almost no pressure to use. I'm so so thrilled 😍
Some bullet journal stuff.
These are my January and first week of January (and Jan 1st) pages
I've been at this for a while and I like color and pretty but I don't like effort.
Some stuff:.
1. The colors on the January page have meaning, and I like having and idea of scheduled activities.
2. The washi tape striped are functional--i use them as tabs (and the colors and patterns mean stuff too.
3. The weekly task tracker looks like a lot of work but it's an Excel file I update only occasionally and print onto sticker paper once a week.
4. The bar on the left hand side of the daily page is and hourly schedule and has 10 minute bricks for logging work hours.
5. Washi tape and stickers are also for covering up mistakes.
So I know I'm a writeblr but would anybody be interested in me periodically posting my kind of ugly bullet journal as a neurodivergence solidarity thing?
Because I've been keeping an ADHD bullet journal for quite a few years and there's a lot that goes into keeping an effective system as an ADHD scatterbrain.
Like, the options for bullet journaling that seem to exist are the stressful aestheticized and the original utilitarian version, but I find I very much need to split from both versions. I need the journal to be a source of joy (which I do by making it fun both in making fun lists and in making it colorful) but it can't be a very high standard of Aesthetics to be functional. Gotta balance the two.
I'm hoping I can help other neurodivergents get into it if I'm being visibly proud about my accessible version.
Interest?
Yes interest, and I'm also inserting myself into the notes here because going forward this sideblog is gonna be for this exact type of content!
stop buying noodler's products.
this just happened this morning: noodler's released a new ink called volcker green.
it is a commentary on banks in the US. the art on the bottle portrays two jewish federal reserve (banking) chairmen with devil horns and the one christian chairman in the center with a halo. this is an extremely common antisemitic dogwhistle. especially coming from a self-proclaimed libertarian in the context of praising the banking regulations issued by a holy christian compared to two evil manipulative devil horned jews. there is also commentary on the bottle saying that this message is approved by both red and blue, and that the two jewish chairmen are "monetary addiction enablers".
it is extremely common for antisemites to claim that jews literally have horns, and it is also extremely common to blame banking problems on jews.
luxury goods has issued an apology and pulled all noodler's products. goulet pens has also issued an apology and pulled this ink. as of right now, retailers are horrified enough that nobody will be selling this ink.
this is not the first time noodler's has used their brand to be horrible. here are some of noodler's other inks about their political views in the US
house divided, an ink released in DC during the trump administration. the red is permanent while the blue washes out easily, expressing that democrats are destroying the country by trying to fight the trump administration, the true core of the country
anti-fascist blue, with art of churchill. the intended message is that there are no real anti-fascists since the days of ww2, fascism does not exist anymore, and everyone who claims to be anti-fascist is just a whiny liberal. anti-fascism = another word for liberal, therefore the ink is blue. this ink is also called x-feather blue
berning red, a quick drying red ink. the bottle art is bernie sanders photoshopped to have buck teeth, a prominent nose, overlayed on top of communist imagery
noodler's ink is almost as volatile chemically as it is politically. their inks are garbage, with shit quality control, they permanently damage pens and floors, they have chemical reactions with even a tiny drop of any other kind of ink, and they never dry on quality fountain pen paper. it takes weeks to months to dry on quality paper, if it ever will. noodler's ink is chemically different from nearly every other type of fountain pen. if you want to enjoy a variety high quality paper, pens, and ink: do not choose noodler's. it is so infamous for permanently damaging pens, converters, and staining everything it touches. including the pens.
I have long said noodler's products suck and the people in charge of noodler's fucking suck. this has been going on for too fucking long. stop fucking buying noodler's. stop giving them a bigger platform to spread hate
the best journal is ugly. the best journal is full of mistakes made while writing full of emotion. the best journal is one stained by tears and sweat. the best journal is one that can withstand being tossed. it was self defense but you still start to worry. he is probably still alive. probably. the best journal is one with a pocket to write down the truth, and a will you scribbled out in a panic. a writing board or hardcover can help serve as a stable writing surface in a pinch. the necromancers do their rounds soon. you will be found innocent, but you are not good at talking under pressure. you had hardly ever killed a slime, but now there was a person. a person who mistook your colorful journaling for some kind of dangerous wizardry. someone looking to start a fight, and thought you looked powerful. you barely made it out alive. the best journal is one you can run with, through the trees. consider getting a water resistant cover to prevent it from being stained by dew drops as you rush past the plants and vines as they whisper to each other. they must be whispering. they saw. remember to look into water resistant inks if you are prone to accidents. prone to the splashes of water as you run desperately. the best journal is one with enough room for what you want to write. what you need to write. it would be a lie to say you knew nothing of magic. but it was the truth that you never hurt anyone with it. you had been too afraid. the spells you had been taught, they seemed too powerful. the best journal is one with sturdy binding so you can read your past writings over and over again. the words you were told to use in an emergency. where to go if you were ever in trouble. you are in trouble now. where did you write it down? was it in the ink with sheen, or the ink that shaded? the best journal is one that can handle every ink you want to use in it. clear lines that do not feather. ink that stays only on the page you wrote on. ink that does not...bleed. you freeze. a splatter of bright red ink you do not recognize. it was just a drop. it was just a drop, but it was on the spell. no, not now. not now! a magic you never learned to control, a spell you were not ready to cast. it starts to activate. the best journal is one you can hold tightly. the best journal is one you can read clearly. the best journal is the one that will last through all of life's twists and turns. the best journal is one that gives you resolve to see this through.
there is no turning back anymore.
hope this clears things up!

to combat skin oil damaging paper and smudging marks, it is often recommended to wear certain types of smudge-free gloves or to use a thin sheet of paper while writing/drawing to prevent your hand from directly rubbing on the paper.
whenever I see people say that they buy notebooks by touching the pages of all the notebooks/sketchbooks in the store because only smooth paper is good quality and all smooth paper is good quality I just 😬
you are damaging the paper. stop that. oil residue from hands sticks to paper and resists ink and graphite. when someone tries to use that notebook later they are going to find your fingerprints and potentially not be able to write on that page at all. the texture and thickness of paper is not a guarantee that the paper is good. plenty of fantastic papers are designed to be rough. plenty of smooth papers are shit. texture is not a guarantee of paper quality stop damaging paper just look up reviews of the thing online
"paper brand + product name + product code and/or country of origin + [your writing/art tool of choice] friendly"
for example. CVS caliber made in vietnam loose leaf fountain pen friendly. and you will find that this particular paper can handle fucking calligraphy nibs and has some of the best ink sheen on the market despite being ugly rough cheap binder paper
By the way, the way that No Child Left Behind impacts the trade worker shortage in the US is because in about 2002 shop classes, home ec classes, auto classes, etc, had their funding diverted into teaching kids how to pass standardized tests so that the schools could continue to pay teachers and keep the library open.
It's hard to figure out that you might be interested in plumbing as a career when you've spent twelve years learning how to pass multiple choice tests and having ceramics and band as the only available electives.
This is one place where I actually WILL do the generational thing and say that Millennials and Gen Z got completely fucked in a way that older generations didn't.
It's actually really fucking hard to repair a cabinet when you've never had a shop class. It's really goddamned difficult to learn everything about car maintenance on your own through youtube videos instead of in a semester of auto shop. It's really goddamned difficult to figure out you want to be a plumber or an electrician or a welder when you are eighteen years old, have been taught to pass tests and cajoled into applying for college, and you've never handled an air compressor or used a socket wrench.
Hey did you know I keep a google drive folder with linguistics and language books that I try to update regularly
UPDATE because apparently not everyone has seen this yet the new and improved version of this is a MEGA folder
I know there’s so many more urgent things but if you like this resource you may consider buying me a ko-fi to keep this project alive
